Job Details

Amgen is looking for proactive individuals, with strong analytical skills, decision-making, and leadership attributes, willing to join a Biotechnology World-class Company under our junior leadership Rotational Program. The objective is to develop future leaders with a blend of technical knowledge and soft skills (extra-curricular activities, leadership, and/or student's associations).

The role

While being results-oriented is a key, Amgen provides a robust system to make you successful. The Rotational Program's selected candidates will work under minimal supervision, but along a support system that consists of a Mentor, Buddy, Coach and Rotational Buddy to foster you during the assimilation process from Academia to Workplace. This two-year Rotational Program consists of three 8-months rotations in the areas of 1 Manufacturing (Drug Product or Drug Substance), 2 Quality and 3 Wild Card within Process Development, Engineering, Operations Improvement, or Supply Chain.

Participants will graduate with diverse experience, technical skills and poise to make creative and meaningful decisions to serve our patients.

We have several positions based in Juncos. Amgen Manufacturing Limited is chosen one of the top 3 Best Employers in Puerto Rico. Candidates will be video interviewed 1 - 2 times between September and October 2020, and those selected will start in the summer of 2021.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership / Management
  • May direct operators on critical processes
  • May train staff to perform hands-on tasks
  • May act as safety representative
  • May assist with system ownership responsibilities
  • Meet with support system on a regular basis
  • Complete work of projects/tasks assigned
  • Responsible for present achievements to site management after each rotation
  • Will act as an Amgen ambassador during internal and external extra-curricular activities


Technical
  • Basic troubleshooting
  • Assist in the review of documentation for assigned functions (e.g. equipment logs, routine area audits, batch records)
  • May perform routine maintenance (including documentation of work performed, troubleshooting/system diagnostics, parts/system inventory, maintenance/calibration, equipment use/cleaning logs, internal equipment delivery for scheduled calibrations and scheduling vendor visits) of laboratory equipment as the responsible system owner
  • May verify experimental data, monitors and maintains raw material inventory, maintains/revises laboratory guidelines, maintains MSDS documentation up to date and provides basic experiment preparation support
  • Assists in the analysis and interpretation under direct supervision of own data and verifies experimental data from other lab group members
  • May develop basic scientific skills through routine laboratory tasks completion
  • May perform and monitor critical laboratory processes


Processes
  • Align with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Procedures
  • Regularly draft and revise "routine" documents (e.g. MPs, SOP's, and technical reports)
  • Demonstrate significant contributions to the business by identifying and recommending improvements related to routine functions
  • Recognize & accurately report problems
  • Maintains appropriate laboratory documentation up to date
  • Documents appropriate work output (lab notebook compliance, SOPs, etc.)
  • Reads and follows written technical procedures


Basic qualifications

Graduated from Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering between 2019 and summer 2021, with a minimum general GPA of 3.20

Or

If actively pursuing a Master's Degree, with a minimum general GPA of 3.20, and graduated from Bachelor Degree in Computer, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering

And

Previous Amgen Intern and/or Co-Op experience and a maximum of 2 years of work experience in a GMP/Manufacturing environment

Or

Previous Amgen Capstone or Amgen Bio-Talent experience and previous COOP experience in a GMP/Manufacturing environment with a maximum of 2 years of work experience in a GMP/Manufacturing environment.

Preferred qualifications:
  • If graduated from Master's Degree, graduation date from Bachelor's degree should have been completed between 2016 and 2018.
  • If actively pursuing a Master's Degree, graduated from Bachelor's degree with a minimum general GPA of 3.20 between 2016 and 2020.
