Job Summary

Sr Scientist, Process Analytical Assay Development is responsible for developing/performing assays to support the process development team. This position requires teamwork to troubleshoot upstream (mammalian cell culture) and downstream (purification) process related issues and provide technical support. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director of Process Development.

Essential Functions

• Provide leadership and technical direction for development and execution of analytical methods for a variety of vaccine candidates.
• Provide technical strategies for identifying, evaluating and prioritizing the selection of appropriate technologies to implement analytical methods to support vaccine product development.
• Function as project technical lead and provide update and presentation in meetings.
• Support the process development team with in-process analytical assay developing, testing and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with analytical development team for assay optimization
• Work closely with project leaders, project managers, and other functional groups to provide scientific direction and oversight to ensure that project and team needs are met.
• Serve as an ad hoc scientific resource to other groups and departments as well as the company's project teams
• Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve process and quality of output.

Minimum Education, Experience, Skills

• PhD in Biochemistry, chemistry, analytical chemistry or equivalent with 5 plus years of related experience

• Wide knowledge of live virus vaccine development and protein characterization methodologies.
• Knowledge of analytical methods including LC-MS/MS, RP-HPLC, Ion exchange HPLC, capillary gel electrophoresis, TCID50 assay.
• Hands-on experience with state-of the-art methods and instrumentation to support method development.
• Excellent organization skills, supervisory experience, and excellent writing and presentation skills are required.
• Proven collaboration skills, learning agility, conceptual and strategic thinking, passion for results, and ability to navigate ambiguity
• Bioprocess knowledge (cell culture, bioreactor, chromatography) is preferred.
• Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills.
• Attention to details.
