NextCure is a start-up biopharmaceutical company located in Beltsville, MD, and focuses on the discovery and development of novel immunomedicines for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Investor Relations to develop and lead a comprehensive and pro-active plan focused on communicating NextCure’s strategy and progress to the investment community.  As Director of Investor Relations you will serve as the principle point of contact and maintain overall investor and sell-side analyst relationships.  The candidate must thrive and adapt to a fast-paced, innovative and changing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and manage a strategic plan for investor relations that will align to and promote business objectives
  • Create and manage all investor relations core materials including corporate presentations, press releases, conference call scripts, talking points and Q&A documents
  • Responsible for overseeing all investor IR-related materials, including earnings releases, shareholder calls, investor days and healthcare conferences
  • Establish and maintain excellent relations with institutional investors and sell-side analysts
  • Work with investors and sell-side analysts to provide detailed help and ensure message and programs are clearly understood
  • Develop, implement and optimize a plan for maximizing sell-side analyst coverage
  • Establish and mature relationships with sell-side analysts to ensure effective and accurate coverage
  • Develop a strategy and targeting strategy to ensure an appropriate mix of institutional investors
  • Serve as primary contact and resource for fielding investor calls, requests for information and shareholder inquiries and provide accurate, consistent and timely responses
  • Plan, organize and manage an active investor relations calendar of investor conferences, non-deal roadshows and other investor and analyst events
  • Lead planning and develop content for key announcements and disclosures, including quarterly financial results
  • Analyze stockholder composition trends and conduct investor targeting
  • Ensure executive team is up-to-date on investor and analyst perceptions of the company
  • Provide practical and meaningful investor relations support to management
  • Advise management regarding investor events
  • Ensure timely input, participation and internal alignment for investor relations strategies and activities
  • Track models and metrics utilized by analysts to value/evaluate company performance
  • Manage the IR portion of the company’s website
  • Provide Regulation Fair Disclosure training to all appropriate company spokespersons
  • Maintain and communicate competitive intelligence and analysis on industry peers to management team
  • Prepare, update and manage investor database to record and summarize all investor and sell-side analyst contact
  • Manage third party vendors and resources
  • Provide general operational support, including business analysis

Required education and experience

  • BA or BS; higher degree preferred; MBA is a plus
  • 7+ years of Investor Relations experience with a publicly traded life sciences company

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of biological sciences, immunology and drug development
  • Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement when analyzing situations and processing information
  • Ability to prepare and communicate story supported by scientific, clinical and financial data
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills and ability to multitask and perform in a fast-paced entrepreneurial and growing environment
  • Proven ability to maintain and grow relationships with the investment community
  • Superior analytical skills to research, gather, and summarize complex and diverse information and to identify synergies to create value-added opportunities
  • Efficient solution-oriented skills and demonstrated proactivity
  • Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work in matrix team environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of the biotech/pharma industry and therapeutic product development
