Rheumatology Regional Business Director- West

PREREQUISITES - Minimum 10 years 'experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical industry. Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales management experience with documented leadership accolades. This is a field-based job that will cover the West Region of the US and travel will be required when deemed safe by the organization.

This is an opportunity to join the growing US Immunology Business Unit at BMS and lead a best in class Regional Sales Organization to support the on-going growth of Orencia. Orencia is the cornerstone franchise within the rapidly expanding Immunology organization that includes Zeposia for Multiple Sclerosis as well as additional assets launching in 2021/2022 for Ulcerative Colitis and PsO.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, develop, and recruit a best in class Regional sales organization (District Business Managers and Territory Business Managers)
  • Ensuring talent recruited represents a truly diverse team of professionals to enhance our competitiveness and innovation
  • Ensures team that can succeed within the "new norm" in our external environment, including leading a virtual sales team
  • Ensures superior execution of business unit and brand strategy within region by translating strategy into region specific goals, objectives and business plan that take into account unique characteristics of region, e.g., geography, payer landscape, customer mix, etc.
  • Working with sales leadership, continue to drive the evolution of our sales force capabilities to meet the changing external environment
  • Meet or exceed sales goals, maximize promotional budgets, and execute the national sales strategy in accordance with BMS polices. Hold people accountable for expectations of their role. Have courageous conversations to develop and address performance management
  • Serve as a role model for Best in Class Compliance and hold region accountable for Compliance by ensuring all practices within region are compliant with the BMS Compliance Code of Conduct, PhRMA Code, OIG Guidelines, PDMA Policies and Procedures and all other applicable laws, regulations, policies & procedures
  • Identify opportunities in the market place, share best practices, and proactively communicate strategies to cross-functional partners and members of US Leadership Team. Manage implementation of all promotional activities to support sales and marketing strategies, in accordance with BMS promotional policies.
  • Act as a player/coaching by building and sustaining relationships with Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Drive succession planning, diversity aspirational goal achievement and talent retention efforts pipelining, as necessary, for external talent. Take a leadership role in creating a respectful & inclusive work environment while role modeling the BMS Values, fostering geographical and cultural diversity and an inclusive work environment.


Required Skills/Knowledge:
  • Minimum 10 years of broad based, cross-functional experience in pharmaceutical sales required.
  • Minimum 3 years pharmaceutical sales management experience with documented leadership accolades.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Top performance in field sales and field sales management. - (required)
  • Experience building and leading teams of diverse backgrounds
  • Working knowledge of geographic condition / customer base.
  • Understanding of environmental and industry trends, and impact on business.
  • Participation in the development and implementation of strategy on a geographic or product basis.
