Providence is calling a Research Associate 2 to Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, benefited position.

We are seeking for a Research Associate 2 - Medical Research who will assist the Laboratory Chief in the implementation and design of research activities in the Cancer Research laboratories. Scientific and administrative duties are performed under some supervision of the Laboratory Chief or other laboratory personnel.

In this position you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • Perform the research necessary and evaluate the quality of research to reach the established goals of the laboratory under some supervision of the Laboratory Chief or other laboratory personnel

  • Originate and develop new techniques that facilitate the research goals of the laboratory

  • Stay current with the literature in ongoing and proposed research projects in the field of specialty

  • Use appropriate and reliable documentation, follow uniform reporting standards, and provide information by maintaining effective procedures and preparing periodic reports


Required qualification for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree with major courses in the field of research

  • Three (3) years research lab experience

Preferred qualification for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate biomedical field

  • Experience with immunohistochemistry staining

  • Experience doing tissue sectioning using microtome

  • Knowledge of how to make the buffers of staining

  • Knowledge of how to use autostainer
