The Business Development Director will be responsible for building and cultivating prospective and existing customer relationships. This role will research, identify, investigate and develop new business opportunities through cold calling, trade shows, conferences and various other means within the industry. He/she must gain a solid understanding of the requirements necessary to identify and satisfy the customer's needs and to ensure that Arranta Biopharmaceuticals can fulfill those needs through communications with key internal and external stakeholders. The Business Development Director will be the primary liaison with customers regarding new business identification through contract execution. He/she will effectively manage the transition to the internal project team, once the deal is signed.

  • Work closely with the Chief Commercial Officer and other executive leadership to develop commercial strategy, goals and actions.
  • Establish new company relationships within the Microbiome industry
  • Call on prospective accounts, provide technical and administrative product information, coordinate presentations, and support proposal generation
  • Understand the microbiome market and be able to communicate the Arranta value proposition.
  • Work with internal teams to translate client needs and expectations into reality
  • Build new strategic contacts, networks, and business relationships
  • Participate in company initiatives as required for securing new business and maintaining relationships with existing clients
  • Negotiate of agreements
  • Coordinate Request for Proposal (RFP) response across Arranta and with prospective clients.
  • Transparently track and communicate progress on new and existing customers with the Arranta leadership team
  • Accompany and/or host customers for onsite company visits/audits
  • Attend and represent Arranta at selected industry meetings and conferences
  • Work with internal stakeholders in manufacturing, process development, project management, engineering etc. to facilitate successful proposal, negotiation and implementation process.
  • A positive and enthusiastic personality and the energy and drive to bring new customer deals to a successful conclusion

Experience and Skills

  • Proven sales/business development track record
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related, Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related life science major is required, Masters preferred.
  • 3+ years Sales/Business Development experience
  • 5+ years experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Key account and territory management experience with academic, biotech/pharmaceutical life science customers.
  • Needs an understanding of the pharma market initiatives and preferably having previous relationships with researchers in these accounts.
  • Ability to multitask and to prioritize projects and customers.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results driven, passionate, go-getter
  • Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
  • Must be able to build relationships through networking and referrals.
  • Polished individual with strong delivery and closing skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good leadership and persuasion skills.
  • Up to 50% Travel required

  • Ability to function in a rapidly changing environment & handle multiple priorities.
  • A flexible work schedule is required.
