Description:

The Global Emergency Management (GEM) program manager will work with internal / external stakeholders and on key deliverables needed for the success of the Amgen's Emergency Management program. They will ensure that GEM efforts continue to support the foundation of the Amgen Emergency Management program.

These key deliverables include identifying Emergency Management administrative and response personnel, communicating program features and benefits, developing training materials, and ensuring a global network that will provide key insights and best practices for all Amgen locations.

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Supports the safety and protection of staff and company assets through the establishment of plans, conducting trainings, designing exercises, and responding to live incidents
  • Ensures effective collaboration and alignment with key programs (i.e., Business Resilience) and stakeholders (i.e., Risk Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery)
  • Supports the maturity and standardization of the GEM program across Amgen sites

 

 

  • Provides leadership and guidance in matters related to emergency management activities
  • Develops and maintains templates for Emergency Management Plans (EMP) and Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for use across all sites
  • Develops and implements courses and communications to educate staff on emergency management guidelines and best practices
  • Develops repository where emergency management plans are stored and can be quickly referenced
  • Maintains latest information and emergency contacts as needed
  • Provides guidelines for necessary emergency supplies at Amgen locations
  • Provides leadership and guidance to headquarters Emergency Management staff
  • Leads Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Director during incidents
  • Ensures coordination with the Global Security Operations Center and receives real-time information on various situations (e.g., earthquakes, terrorist attacks, brushfires, etc.)
  • Prepares to support Amgen locations based on Emergency impacts
  • Coordinates with Crisis Management (CM) when business impact is imminent
  • Functions as liaison during global crisis incidents (as needed)
  • Maintains records on all GEM trainings (Presentations, LMS, training records)
  • Gains feedback on training effectiveness and make updates as needed
  • Assess existing stakeholders, trainings, materials, and plans needing updates / change
  • Assess effectiveness of GEM program on a continual basis
  • Conducts emergency management exercises in accordance with established standards

 


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 2 years of Emergency Management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Emergency Management experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Emergency Management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Emergency Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Proven track record in assignment / project / program management
  • Experience in the field of emergency response and preparedness
  • Experience as field team leader, incident commander, Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Director during live (non-training) incidents
  • Experience as liaison with first response agencies (i.e., Fire Dept., Sheriff's Dept., etc.)
  • Knowledge and experience with CERT, USAR, ICS, FEMA, and other certification programs
  • Certifications in FEMA IS 100, 200, 700, and 800
  • Qualification as an EMT, TECC, TCCC, LEFR, or other equivalent medical certification
  • Experience in designing and conducting emergency evacuations, triage, and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful / dynamic environments
  • Experience in launching new / updated programs (documentation, trainings, etc.)
  • Ability to independently set priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, conferencing, and PDF
  • Successful background with instructor led and virtual trainings
  • Confirmed role and trusted reputation in security / confidential / classified environments
  • Ability to think outside the box on solutions and reassess approaches with unforeseen obstacles
  • Proven ability to work with different functional groups, adapt to personalities, and learning perspectives
