Summary:

The Senior Director of Project Management (PM) partners with the Program Leader (PL) to establish a clear and viable strategy for the MyHOPE platform capabilities, aligned with overall franchise and enterprise vision, strategy and objectives, and designed to ensure delivery of timely and high quality product plan that successfully shape and execute the project and development strategies, as well as lifecycle plan. The Snr. Director PM facilitates the alignment Project Team goals/objectives, working closely with cross-functional leaders. He/she may be required to supervise Project Managers who are accountable for the cross-functional execution of one or more integrated plans including management of timelines, cost, quality, and risk mitigation. The Snr. Director PM provides an impartial voice to facilitate shaping the project strategy and drive optimal decisions for the broader portfolio value. This position can be assigned to any disease/therapeutic area and work on projects at any stage of development.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Active leadership and participation as core member on the MyHOPE program team and closely collaborating/partnering with functional counterparts to develop the overall product plan and life-cycle opportunities that supports the Franchise and enterprise needs.
  • Experience in managing complex processes and ability to identify potential challenges, and implement solutions to drive timely and flawless execution.
  • Foster a high performing team through collaboration with other cross-functional representatives (internal and external), with oversight from the Program Leader (PL).
  • Mentors other project managers in monitoring the health and operating efficiency of the matrix team as a unit.
  • Focus and engage with business critical stakeholders (internal & external) to identify and translate key insights and to drive adoption of BMS medicines.
  • Effective partner and integrator within the Program Team (PT) and across the enterprise to ensure alignment and connect best practices, e.g. leads creation of team norms and operating principles with a focus on cross-functional input and accountability, and robust analysis of vetted options
  • Facilitates effective, science-based business decisions including development of scenarios as needed. Ensures all decisions are assessed as to their impacts and communicated to stakeholders in a transparent and timely manner
  • Highlights interdependencies and downstream impacts of strategic decisions
  • Proactively identifies risks to deliverables and ensures mitigation plans are implemented
  • Develops and coordinates resource planning across functions to assure adequate resources are applied to the project
  • Advise on governance expectations with focus on cross-functional input and rigorous debate
  • Liaise with project team members and others to drive excellence and accountability, and develop talent pipeline for PT membership
  • Change Agent for continuous improvement and transformational initiatives
  • For projects that are being jointly developed, works closely with a key strategic alliance partner


Skills/Knowledge/Competencies Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Physical sciences or relevant discipline, advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated drug development or related project management experience with >10 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Breadth of drug development expertise with solid understanding of project strategy and disease content to contribute to strategic discussions
  • Familiar with all phases of drug development (clinical development, regulatory, product life cycle management)
  • Healthcare landscape knowledge & insights
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise mind and change management
  • Excellent partnering, collaboration, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • Excellence verbal & written communication skills (in English)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a complex cross-functional project matrix team
  • Experience with people management within previous positions
  • Ability to build and lead diverse and results-oriented high performance teams, e.g. broad range of leadership skills including situational leadership and ability to influence without authority
  • Strong communicator able to integrate and succinctly summarize the various parts of a project and effectively tailor messages to audience incl. senior leaders
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and manage difficult stakeholder situations
  • Ability to lead the development of critical path analyses and support scenario planning
  • Excellent Project Management Skills - drives execution while balancing speed, quality, and cost. PMP certification desirable
  • Level will be commensurate with the final candidate's experience
