The Medical Scientist role is accountable for ensuring effective planning, development and implementation of medical strategy for external collaborations with non-profit, government, professional societies and academic organizations. The Medical Scientist is to be headquarters based, and provides scientific/medical leadership and support for implementation research, non-registrational data generation projects involving approved medicines to strengthen cancer care capacity building in underserved geographies.

This position requires the ability to organize and simply communicate complex data, align others behind a medical strategy across a matrix and partnerships, and to create and energize high performing external/internal matrix teams. This individual will set clear and challenging targets that allow skilled and empowered professionals to accomplish business objectives consistent with department/program goals. This position requires objective and effective decision making, and the ability to successfully manage integration points across all BMS functional areas to ensure alignment. The Medical Scientist will report to the Head of Oncology External Medical Affairs in Global Medical Capabilities.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Developing medical plan for the Implementation Research Collaboration that is consistent with BMS' strategic imperatives and Development Teams' objectives
  • Coordination of cross-functional, multisector team with internal and external collaboration partners.
  • External Environment and Customer Focus e.g. engages if appropriate with thought leaders and professional associations
  • Plays a critical role in implementation research data generation and is the integrative content expert in medical practice, registry and health economics in underserved geographies.
  • Utilizes an understanding of the collaborative efforts to strengthen cancer care health systems and applies integrated knowledge and subject matter expertise during the critical review of research projects in collaboration with external partners


Requirements:
  • PharmD, PhD, MD with 1-2 years experience in pharmaceutical industryor relevant degree in Public Health
  • Familiarity with all phases of oncology drug development, including clinical development, regulatory and life cycle management.
