Vice President of Research
BioSpace has partnered with an early stage biotech company based in San Franciso to find a leader for their research team. This client is developing novel therapies to activate the endogenous immune system to treat multiple age related and autoimmune diseases. They are a hardworking, congenial team with minimal hierarchy that takes great pride in their mission.
In this role:
You will be a key leader and a face of the company, working directly with both the CEO and Founding Scientist. You will be leading a five to eight person scientific team in a highly enriching environment based on novel science in the quickly burgeoning field of aging therapeutics. You will have the opportunity to be an early team member and to advance higher as merited.
• Directly lead the development of novel lead drug candidates from non-GLP to GLP, GMP, CMC, and eventual IND approval.
• Work directly with a CMO, consultants, and CRO’s to carry out the above.
• Oversee key in vitro and in vivo studies to assess the ideal first indication for human clinical trials.
• Assist company management in fundraising with venture and pharma partners.
• Write project contributions for grant applications, patent filings, and company reports.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology or related scientific discipline. Exceptional M.S. candidates will also be considered.
• Preferred candidates will have held a similar role or had similar experience at an early to mid-stage biotech.
• Experience in hit to lead selection of novel therapeutics.
• Relevant pharma industry experience is a requirement.
• Demonstrable track record of overseeing development of small molecule therapies and/or biologics from non-GLP to GLP, GMP, CMC, and eventual successful IND(s).
• Experience with FIH indication selection for multi indication targets.
• Experience in investor/partner presentations and a demonstrated track record of being a key figure in successful fundraises.
• Experience with murine model development and selection.
• Strong leadership, organization, documentation, and communication skills. Being a fast learner with meticulous oversight is key.
