The Senior Counsel, Enterprise Data and Digital Health, will advise and counsel clients across the company, such as BTS (IT), R&D, Commercial, HEOR, Medical and others, on AbbVie's digital health and data initiatives, including data risk mitigation. The role will provide cross-functional counsel on these issues, building enterprise protocols and guidelines. The role will also share responsibility with clients for driving strategic considerations on these initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Stay up to date on evolving legal frameworks for data and digital health. Identify new requirements and risk factors that AbbVie must address while simultaneously identifying new opportunities for AbbVie to compliantly use data and digital health technologies.
• Develop deep understanding of business objectives for data and digital health projects.
• Provide tactical advice to help business compliantly achieve objectives on specific projects, but also provide strategic advice to help guide business develop long-term vision for use of data and digital health technologies.
• Translate legal advice into policies and procedures, either directly or through other functions that may own such policies and procedures.
• Develop relationships with business partners and leaders in multiple functions across company.
• Issue spot across functions and look for ways to efficiently solve legal problems at an enterprise level.
• Coordinate with other stakeholders from AbbVie's legal and compliance functions to ensure advice is consistent and complete, given the cross-functional nature of this work.

Qualifications

• JD (or equivalent) with active bar membership.
• 7+ years at a law firm, corporate legal department or equivalent compliance function
• Required experience: providing legal advice in the pharmaceutical or health care industry OR providing legal advice on data and digital matters in another regulated industry. Preferred experience: Providing legal advice related to data and digital matters in the pharmaceutical or health care industry.
• Preferred legal expertise: Working knowledge of broad range of US and EU laws governing digital technologies and collection and use of data (e.g., privacy laws, medical device regulations, FTC guidance, clinical trial regulations, etc.)
• Required business knowledge: Demonstrated interest in and facility to learn about emerging data and digital health technologies. Preferred business knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of emerging data and digital health technologies.
• Track record of providing legal advice on cross-functional projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships across multiple functions.
