Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Solid tumor TCR-T program as a Research Scientist in our new Research, Development, Manufacturing, and Clinical facility (RDMC-East) in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The RDMC-East is being developed as a Center of Excellence for the advancement of novel TCR mediated T cell therapies targeting tumor mutations and antigens.

Reporting to a Director, the individual will be responsible for target discovery and validation work stream, establish imaging facility, collaborate with various external and internal groups including, Research Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology & Sequencing groups, and soon-to-be established mass spec facility, perform experiments, to enable the discovery and characterization of wide-ranging shared and neoantigens, for downstream TCR discovery.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish an in-house imaging facility for multi-parameter microscopy to discover and validate target tumor antigens
  • Develop, lead and manage projects involving target discovery and validation by collaborating with other internal groups
  • Develop collaboration and liaise with external partners relevant to target discovery efforts
  • Isolation of primary human immune and tumor cells from human blood and tumor materials for single-cell applications
  • Aseptic culture techniques for tumor, T cells, and cell lines
  • Adoption of new technologies for spatial gene expression analysis
  • Taking charge of routine tasks relating to laboratory operations (e.g., organization and maintenance of lab supplies)

Candidates with any of the following educational and technical skillset are encouraged to apply.

  • A Ph.D. in Immunology, Biomedical Sciences, Bioengineering, or Biotechnology (or related field) with 0-10+ years of post-Ph. D. experience is required. Your experience may be in academia, non-profit, or industry.
  • Expertise in advanced microscopy and immunology or oncology is essential.
  • Immunological techniques such as isolation of T cells, mixed lymphocyte culture, cytotoxic killing assay, functional assays using FACS, ELISA, and other methods, in vivo mouse model experiments, etc. is an advantage but not a strict requirement.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and knowledge in Molecular Biology is a clear plus
  • Expertise in high-throughput technologies, such as ATAC-Seq, ChIP-Seq, genetic screenings using RNAi, Cas9 or engineered nucleases, single-cell technologies is an advantage but not a strict requirement
  • Strong verbal, written communication and analytical skills in English and ability to communicate results to a diverse cross-functional audience
  • Proactive, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills, appropriate sense of urgency and the ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with challenging work-load and to quickly get acquainted with novel methods and approaches
  • Thorough and continuous literature survey to stay up-to-date with the latest development in the field is strictly preferred
