Job Description

Kite Pharma, a division of Gilead Sciences, is recruiting a Manager, Partnership Finance to join our Finance Team. This position will be based in Santa Monica, CA reporting to the Senior Director of Partnership Finance and will be responsible for financial planning, budgeting and ad hoc financial analyses supporting various departments rolling up into Corporate Development - Business Development, Alliance Management, Corporate Strategy and Operations, and Global Program Strategy.

The individual must be able to define and execute analyses and meet deadlines for multiple priorities and projects drawing from finance and project management experience. The individual will be responsible for:
  • Supporting monthly close processes, including analyzing results and determining accruals
  • Developing & delivering monthly management reporting and variance analysis
  • Leading budgeting and forecasting for Kite departments rolling up into Corporate Development
  • Collaborating with members of the FP&A team to develop the planning calendar and coordinating with business partners to align strategic plan, budget, and forecast
  • Partnering with departmental leaders to determine and support financial analysis needs
  • Developing efficiencies and process improvements within the team's work streams
  • Managing financial aspects of special projects by determining key drivers, driving the right set of analyses and presenting the conclusions
  • Preparing ad-hoc financial analyses (often companywide and cross functional in nature)
  • Liaising with business leaders across functions and representing finance in meetings and on projects
  • Tracking actual historical payments made plus projected payments to be made to our collaboration partners based upon our pre-defined contractual dates or the achievement of milestones to be confirmed with Alliance Management
  • Creating and/or reviewing net present value (NPV) analyses or valuation models used to make investment / prioritization decisions
  • Assisting the Global Program Leads with compiling and analyzing revenue and expense forecasts by product and by franchise across the Kite organization.
  • Supporting Alliance Management and Kite members of various Joint Steering Committees via preparing analyses used in making collaboration decisions on behalf of Kite.
  • Collaborating with Legal and Business Development in reviewing the financial terms included within draft versions of new collaboration agreements with external parties.

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
  • Pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare experience is desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Demonstrated success working in a multi-task environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical abilities
  • Willingness to work on detailed analysis and present to leadership as necessary
  • Complete proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to frame and execute analyses and synthesize recommendations
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle EBS/Projects, Hyperion, Essbase, and OBIEE
