Job Details

The Biopharmaceutical Development Program (BDP) of Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. supports the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and other government agencies through the development of novel agents for first-in-man clinical studies.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Cell culture and process development for production of clinical materials.
  • Contribute to the development of robust, high-yielding, scalable, and economically viable cell culture processes for production of antibodies, recombinant proteins and viral vectors at bench scale and in large-scale bioreactors
  • Develop process scale-up and support GMP operations through technology transfer and process troubleshooting
  • Writing of standard operating procedures, preparing meeting presentations, publication quality drafts and other common laboratory tasks in the field of antibody and protein engineering
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to support advancement of drug development programs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Possession of a Doctoral degree related to life sciences from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degree must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture (CHO, HEK293 etc.), recombinant protein and viral vector production, and bioreactors process development
  • Experience with bioreactor process development with 3-10 L scale production and technology transfer to manufacturing
  • General experience in cell-based assays, transient transfection, assay development and protein characterization
  • Ability to perform data analysis, draw conclusions, and effectively communicate the results to the manager and team
  • Ability to perform data analysis and implement DoE

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Cell culture and bioreactor process development
  • Proficient in GMP/GLP production operations and documentation
