Job Details

We are seeking a Research Associate to join the VelocImmune Next Group. In this role, you will support research initiatives in generating, characterizing, and optimizing novel genetically engineered mouse models. You will also be involved in identifying and developing antibodies against clinical targets in collaboration with other researchers.

As the R&D Associate, VI Next, a typical day might include the following:
  • Performing molecular biology techniques such as PCR and cloning (including familiarity with Cas9 & Gibson assembly techniques)
  • Handling mice including performing general immunizations (intraperitoneal & subcutaneous), blood collection (sub-mandibular), and postmortem tissue sample collection
  • Utilizing in vitro systems, including cell culture (both primary cells and established cell lines)
  • Utilizing basic molecular biology (e.g. cloning, transfection, DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR), biochemical methods (SDS-page, western blot) and immunohistochemistry, FACS techniques
  • Critically analyzing data; using rigorous logic and methods to solve problems; designing new experiments

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree, with 2-5 years research lab experience. You should have a passion for biological science and technology. A solid understanding of genetics and molecular biology with experience in wet-lab molecular biology, cell culture, and cell-based assays also required. Familiarity with Pubmed and Genbank. Experience with multi-color flow cytometry is a plus. You should also be able to keep full experimental records in a timely and well-organized fashion.
