Job Details

Our mission:

Developing curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

At Intellia, we are committed to solving the complex challenges of making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to create novel engineered cell therapies for immuno-oncological and autoimmune diseases.

Summary:

Intellia is seeking a highly skilled and motivated bioanalytical Research Associate to join our team. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to design and execute LC-MS -based bioanalytical methodologies to monitor and quantify protein biomarkers of CRISPR/Cas9 based therapeutics in blood and tissue-derived biological samples. This position will work closely with formulation and delivery scientists on analytical method development and perform the analysis of complex samples comprised of proteins, nucleic acid, lipid nanoparticles (LNP) and/or viral material. Furthermore, the candidate will be actively involved in the execution of the bioanalytical aspects of PK/PD studies, resulting in a variety of specimen for analysis of test article(s) and biomarkers. Specifically, this includes the absolute quantitation of edited protein levels including mutations by LC-MS/MS. The work will be done independently or in collaboration with colleagues in the in vivo pharmacology group, the formulations group, the RNA synthesis group and the analytical development group.

Applicants should have exceptional lab skills, in depth knowledge of mass spectrometry and proteomics, and communication skills (both written and oral) coupled with a strong attention to details.

Responsibilities
    • Conduct sample analysis and data review in support of pharmacology, BDPK and toxicology studies.
    • Carry out various in-house bioanalytical assays to track and quantify biomarkers of CRISPR/Cas9 based therapeutics using blood and tissue-derived biological samples.
    • Execute assays for the characterization and quantitation of markers and surrogates for delivery efficiency and efficacy of CRISPR/Cas9 therapeutic candidates
    • Compile assay qualification and bioanalytical reports.
    • Conduct experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues in support of project goals.
    • Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners.
    • Review and ensure the quality of scientific data to meet regulatory expectations.

Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of industry experience, or Master's Degree with 2 years of industry experience. Degree must be in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
    • Knowledge of analytical separation techniques (liquid chromatography, electrophoresis) and analytical detection methods (optical, mass spectrometric)
    • Experience in running complex assays on a routine basis.
    • Ability to work with blood and tissue-borne biological samples
    • Experience with software for quantitation of proteins, small molecules, oligonucleotides and peptides.
    • Familiarity with IND filing and regulatory guidance.

What Intellia Stands For:

We push boundaries. We are focused on positively disrupting health care treatment of patients with genomic diseases. The values we live by and drivers we look for are:

- One is respect for individuals; our unique qualities and strengths; our own ways to understand, learn and improve. One is our single-minded determination to excel; to succeed together. One is you and us - trusting and counting on every single one of us.

- Explore because we seek new ways to tackle disease. Explore with unbounded minds...free from assumptions, open to ideas. Explore by staying curious, by pushing boundaries, overcoming obstacles. Explore means thinking of new ways.

- Disrupt by thinking courageously...and creating a better future. Disrupt by defying conformity; interrogating the status quo; questioning our momentum. Disrupt with challenging thoughts...with that breed of skepticism that shows you have better solutions.

- Deliver with your focus on the objective and your determination to complete the task. Deliver by advancing relentlessly and by maintaining high standards...even when nobody is watching. Deliver by staying accountable and pulling your weight. Deliver because patients are counting on us to make the promise reality. Get it done.

Company

Many of us pursuing work in the biotechnology industry are inspired by a loved one who is living with a disease or the loss of someone in our community. Rare genetic and oncological and immunological diseases not only affect the people living with often debilitating and life-threatening symptoms, but these disorders also significantly impact their families, friends and caregivers.

Our researchers work tirelessly to harness the genome editing technology CRISPR/Cas9 for human therapeutic use. Jennifer Doudna, an Intellia co-founder, and Emmanuelle Charpentier were awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their pioneering work in CRISPR. We at Intellia are humbled to have a hand in making what we believe to be medical history. As a leader in this space, we take this responsibility to patients seriously.

We are employing a modular genome editing platform to create diverse in vivo and ex vivo pipelines, spanning a range of therapeutic indications. Guided by this full-spectrum approach, we are committed to making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines a reality for patients suffering from genetic diseases and to creating novel engineered cell therapies for various cancers and autoimmune diseases.
