The pharmaceutical development group for new biological entities (NBEs) develops antibody drug conjugates (ADC) and other biologics by state of the art formulation, processing and analytical technologies. We create intellectual property through new formulation compositions, lean and smart manufacturing processes and prepare and defend CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control) regulatory content.

We are looking for a highly motivated person who supports development activities for NBEs. The candidate will maintain as well as improve our technological equipment to expand the state-of-the-art and support the development of processes for biologics. Furthermore, the candidate will keep and increase the state of operational excellence of our lab. Working closely with analytical, process, and formulation scientists in an integrated group the candidate will develop productive collaborations and communications with scientific and technical teams.

Section I: Major Responsibilities:
  • Independently supports laboratory operations for efficient use of time and resources including ordering and stocking of lab supplies and removal of used equipment.
  • Supporting the development activities of parenteral formulations for biologics and small molecule.
  • Being the first point of contact for the coordination of preventive maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Continuous thorough maintenance of development equipment and performing simple maintenance activities.
  • Builds strong relationships to other individuals within the function and across team members.
  • Expected to recommend improvements in design, installation or execution of lab processes.
  • Document experimental data thoroughly in lab documentation systems.
  • Responsible for compliance with all applicable AbbVie policies and procedures.
  • Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and GXP compliance.

Qualifications

Section II: Qualifications:
  • BS in Chemistry, Engineering or related discipline and 0-3 years of industrial or laboratory based experience required.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience in running basic R&D lab equipment (Balance, pH meter, Viscometer, Densitometer, autoclave)
  • Communication skills with the ability to concisely communicate key issues to stakeholders
  • Experienced in technical trouble shooting of simple electromechanical systems.
  • Ability to independently plan and organize tasks within a given timeframe.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) required.
