Are you a professional with a vast knowledge in project management? Amgen is looking for a Project Manager (PM) to support our Puerto Rico operations, Amgen Manufacturing Limited site!

This role presents an opportunity to provide business operations support, covering a range of responsibilities including but not limited to active site leadership, internal communications and external outreach, staff engagement, and site budget management. You will have a share of strategic planning and focus, tactical actions and execution, and direct access and visibility to leadership to enable us to achieve the overall site mission and goals.

The PM Oversee, lead and coordinate all operational aspects of ongoing department projects and programs impacting multiple departments, functions, plants, and sites. Serves as liaison between project team and department. If you're the right person for this opportunity you will have a passion to ensure compliance and lead continuous improvement projects. We seek a lead by example Project Manager, and someone comfortable within an innovative, fast paced environment.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Lead all types of projects (waterfall, agile, lean six sigma), programs and portfolios.
  • Lead all aspects of project(s) (i.e. initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, closure, and sustainability).
  • Lead challenging timelines and prioritize critical tasks. Establish and achieves project standards for work quality and quantity.
  • Assess project issues and develop solutions to meet scientific, efficiency, quality and client happiness goals and objectives.
  • Assist in technical, financial, and organizational issues by researching issues, providing recommendations and maintaining document archives.
  • Maintain and supervise project budget(s).
  • Reconcile the use of resources for the projects.
  • Identify and anticipate schedule slips or changes and analyzes the costs and resource impact.
  • Implement tools, techniques and processes to provide or build information to enable informed decision making within the teams.
  • Actively participate in advising the evolution and defining the role of the project.
  • Ensure the project goals and objectives are well understood by the various functional areas.
  • Liaison with department staff, sub or satellite team leaders and members to acquire their continued input and feedback on the benefits, needs, and issues associated with the project.
  • Create and maintain the master project plan and schedule for assigned projects.
  • Recommend and develop operational or process improvements for the performance and successful functioning of the project team.
  • Provide department management with project management support on an as needed basis as well as for special projects.
  • May lead and provide feedback of the activities of project support staff.
  • Generate periodic updates and prepare formal presentations for required forums.
  • Generate individual and more sophisticated reports utilizing various resources.
  • Ensure project work align with domestic (may also involve international) regulatory requirements and approved guidelines relevant to area of responsibility.
  • Ensure project work aligns with practices, policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in required meetings, activities, and related projects and relevant interdepartmental activities.
  • Anticipate resource needs and communicate to management sponsors.
  • Build organizational structure, technical expertise, and integration with other site processes to ensure success, continuous improvement, and longevity of the Project Management program.
  • Deliver project management trainings for the AML Project Management Academy
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to project leaders.
  • Own the Project Factory Global Network initiatives.
  • Deploy Portfolio Management solutions to Plants and Functions (assess, design, build, pilot, train, deploy and sustain)
  • Lead all aspects related to Project Management Network of Practice.
  • Support site, plants and functions with the goals development and monitoring process.


Basic qualifications are:

Doctorate degree

Or

Master's degree and 2 years of experience in FDA regulated manufacturing environment.

Or

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in FDA regulated manufacturing environment.

Beyond that, the preferred qualifications are:
  • Educational Background in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business Administration
  • Six Sigma Green belt certified, Lean Certified, or background in the use of Operational Excellence tools and techniques.
  • PMP certified, or graduate from Project Management Academia.
  • Proficiency in Project and Portfolio Management tools.
  • Skills in handling multiple responsibilities, priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously.
  • Skills in working under time pressure, and optimal in a team matrix environment.
  • Practical project management software and spreadsheet skills, proficient computer operation skills.
  • Effective interactions in a team or matrixes environment.
  • Good organizational skills, detail-oriented & accurate, analytical skills.
  • Team player, self-starter, persistent, tactful, and persuasive.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (both written and verbal), facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent change leadership skills.
  • Ability to assume increasing levels of responsibility.
