As part of the Amgen's Manufacturing Operations organization, our Amgen Woburn Manufacturing (AWM) site manufactures oncolytic virus based end-to-end drug substance and drug products for the global market. The role of Senior Manager, Supply Chain (SC) for AWM reports directly to the AWM Site Head. This role has responsibility for leading the AWM supply chain function in Woburn, MA and is a member of the site leadership team. The Supply Chain leads all aspects of the short term and long-term capacity planning, bulk production planning, material requirements planning, inventory control, business system change control, monitoring and governance of the entire supply chain to ensure product supply, and Strategic Resource Planning as a part of the long-range capacity planning process.

Responsibilities:
  • Directs the day to day activities of Production Planning and Inventory Control.
  • Handles all capacity analyses that are driven as a result of increased demand or shifts in marketing strategy.
  • Continuous improvement of processes to ensure scalability and support growth.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with Corporate and other Amgen sites regarding process alignment and customer service.
  • Maintenance of Business Continuity program for the group.
  • Report out the monthly Site Business Review overall supply chain performance including production adherence, schedule stability, disposition adherence, etc.
  • Establishes sound plans the enable Amgen's operational and strategic imperatives.
  • Leads and coordinates resources to guarantee product quality standards and supply plans are met within planned budget.
  • Contributes to the business results through quality of decisions, results and advice.
  • Develops and implements metrics to record and lead successful, timely accomplishment of assigned goals, objectives and projects.
  • Delivers strong results consistent with compliance requirements and Amgen values.
  • Prepares and maintains department budget and workforce model.
  • Executes with a sense of purpose and drives course correction.
  • Anticipates and adapts to environmental factors and analyzes and forecasts business trends.
  • Builds compelling strategies the help delivering the company's aspiration.
  • Plans and executes the implementation of major change efforts.
  • Serves as a role model who recruits, coaches, retains and develops empowered and diverse teams to their fullest potential that put patients and Amgen first.
  • May represent department to regulatory authorities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key site and network partners.
  • Provide organizational leadership of the local Supply Chain team. Lead all aspects of their talent management, including performance, career development, and succession planning.
  • Lead the SC Operational Excellence program and its performance.
  • Develop short/long term strategies, goals, objectives, and associated budgets required to ensure appropriate Supply Chain and site implementation.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience

AND

2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree (Materials Management, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, MBA).
  • Experience and understanding of Supply Chain, Material and Logistics Management concepts and the business systems used to ensure supply in the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry.
  • 4+ years of management experience in a manufacturing or Operations environment
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with regulated environments (i.e. cGMP, OSHA, EPA)
  • Ability to collaborate with partners and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, drive, sense of purpose, energy level and problem-solving.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with functional areas.
  • Coach and develop staff while positively advancing the culture of the organization.
  • Strong leadership experience and aptitude with demonstrated ability to lead and partner in a sophisticated, matrix environment
  • Previous experience and track record of compliance in a highly regulated GMP environment
  • Diverse operations experience in the manufacture of biologics with aseptic processing, drug substance and/or drug products focus
  • Operational Excellence approach with diverse, and profound Continuous Improvement methodology experience (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Total Quality Management (TQM), etc.)
