Research Associate / Screening and Compound Profiling

Nanosyn is a well-established and growing medicinal chemistry and biological services contract research organization located in the SF Bay Area.  We provide made-to-order focused compound libraries, hit-to-lead optimization, medicinal chemistry services, lead identification and profiling, and other innovative solutions to meet the drug discovery needs of our clients. 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated screening and compound profiling research associate to join our biology department in Santa Clara, CA.  The candidate will play a key role in the organization by being responsible for the planning and timely execution of in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays for Nanosyn’s screening and profiling services.  He/She will be responsible for consistently generating high quality data and meeting agreed upon timelines.  Applicants must have a strong focus on quality and attention to detail, have the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and be productive both independently and as part of a team.  The ideal candidate should have good organizational skills, possess good problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills and to adapt rapidly to new challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and routinely perform 300+ different enzyme assays for small molecule screening or compound profiling using Caliper Labchip microfluidic mobility shift assay technology
  • Plan and perform as needed in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays using non-microfluidic assay technologies like FI, luminescence, TR-FRET, FP, Alphascreen, etc
  • Store, organize and maintain reagent inventory for screening and compound profiling services including 300+ enzymes
  • Contribute to the analysis of experimental data of screening and profiling assays
  • Contribute to the development of new binding, biochemical, and cell-based assays
  • Operate automated liquid handlers and other laboratory robotics such as Biomek FX and Multidrop Combi
  • Troubleshoot automation and screening instrumentation and assays

Job Requirements

  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry or other relevant discipline
  • 0-2 years biotech or pharma laboratory experience with small molecule screening or compound profiling in high throughput environment
