The Global Buyer I is responsible for the purchasing activity primarily supporting Technical Operations capital projects with additional categories that may be assigned. This individual will work closely with suppliers, Global Strategic Sourcing and internal stakeholders such as Project Controls and Quality. The Buyer will develop and maintain a working knowledge of our materials, services and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Global Strategic Sourcing Team in performing the purchasing activity associated with capital orders and other categories as assigned.
  • Expedite and revise orders to meet the changing needs of the business.
  • Work with the Project Controls team within Global Engineering to ensure the smooth flow of purchase orders for capital projects from start through payment.
  • Attend/host weekly meetings with internal stakeholders to review open orders.
  • Assist the business with determining the appropriate purchase order structure based on the items or services being procured.
  • Assist Global Strategic Sourcing with the administration of the contracting process.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Procurement to ensure compliance with Novartis procure-to-pay processes and procedures.
  • Assist with any incoming receipt or invoicing issues.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
  • Minimum B.S./B.A. degree.
  • This is an entry-level position, but 1+ years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate with limited supervision and exercise proper judgment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, detail oriented.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of products.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Approximately 5% travel required.


The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.
