SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Principal/Senior Scientist will lead in the design and development of molecular diagnostic assays within the Assay Development team. You will apply your skills and knowledge to evaluate and optimize and current methods of sample preparation for applications in our sample-to-answer isothermal quantitative RNA assays. You will interact with internal functional groups and external collaborators to identify and optimize sample preparation and formulation. You must be highly goal-oriented, organized, and collaborative.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead in the development and optimization of sample preparation procedures/protocols
  • Interact cross-functionally to define products, develop processes, and ensure project milestones and product performance
  • Planning and execution of experiments, in-depth analysis, and reporting results through documentation, technical reports and presentations
  • Develop protocols, test methods, and other applications-based material for internal and external use
  • Train and teach team members in areas of expertise

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years industry experience
  • Demonstrated track record for product development
  • Expert and hands-on experience in diagnostic molecular methods with expertise in technologies including qRT-PCR and/or loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience with RNA and DNA sample preparation, genomics, and a wide variety of nucleic acid protocols
  • Familiarity with the process of obtaining CE-IVD and/or FDA clearance/approval of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products, preferably in molecular diagnostics
  • Demonstrated self-motivation, problem solving ability, organizational skills, and detail-oriented quality
  • Experience with mentorship or management of other team members
  • Masters or PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology related discipline or equivalent preferred
