ROLE SUMMARY:

The overall revenue of Pfizer Oncology in the United States is projected to be ~8 Billion USD in 2020 and growing double digits in all categories, while representing 80% of the total revenue for Global Oncology. Hence, the US Oncology Field Medical Group plays a critical role in appropriately educating these increasing numbers of health care professionals on the safe and appropriate use Pfizer Oncology medicines.

The Director, US Oncology Field Medical Strategic Operations is an integral member of the US Field Medical Leadership Team (FMLT) and is responsible for the strategic operations and processes for all customer facing medical teams within Pfizer Oncology, including the 5 Oncology Field Medical Teams, the Organized Customer FMD Team, and the Health Data Analytics Specialist (HDAS) teams. The scope of this role includes over 100 associates covering 22 approved indications and 20 pending new indications. This role serves as the group's lead for US Oncology Field Medical Governance and Compliance, US Metrics and Analytics, the US Oncology Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, US Oncology Field Medical Activity and Insights Reports, US Technology, US Onboarding and Training, and overall process documentation and improvement.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership:
  • Lead for all strategic operations and processes for all customer facing medical teams within Pfizer Oncology, including the 5 Oncology Field Medical Teams, the Organized Customer FMD Team, and the Health Data Analytics Specialist (HDAS) teams consisting of over 100 associates covering 22 approved indications and 20 pending new indications.
  • Serves as US Field Medical Governance/Compliance Lead for all customer facing medical teams within Pfizer Oncology , liaising with Legal, Compliance and Governance on processes and issues related to US Oncology Field Medical while ensuring continuous training and understanding across US field teams.
  • Lead, train, and coordinate Compliance Champions.
  • Serves as Metrics and Analytics Lead for the US Oncology customer facing medical teams , leading the analyses of field data across all teams and driving report generation for Team Leads, cross functional stakeholders, and Sr Management.
  • Leads Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for all teams ensuring customization and usability relevant for the US Oncology BU. Serves as a "super user" for other relevant systems.
  • Lead, train, coordinate US OneMed Champions.
  • Responsible for maintaining Business Rules for US Oncology CRM system (OneMed) and ensuring continued understanding by all teams. .
  • Lead development of US Oncology Field Medical Activity and Insights Report (and similar insight reports), encompassing the analysis and synthesis of field medical insights across all teams, and leading a team in the development of a summary report for dissemination to cross functional stakeholders and Sr Management.
  • Serves as US Technology Lead, driving the development and implementation of technology solutions for all customer facing medical teams. . Aligns with the Global Oncology Content and Education Team in the assessment and roll out of Global-driven solutions.
  • Serves as interface for BT for Field Medical related systems and outside vendors to ensure optimal performance, consistent reporting, and efficiency for all Field Medical systems and any new systems or updates.
  • Serves as the Field Medical (non-therapeutic) Training Lead, responsible for organizing and executing continuous training of all teams on US Oncology-specific processes and topics such as US Oncology Compliance and Governance policies, US Oncology OneMed Business Rules, appropriate and accurate OneMed data entry and insight documentation, US Technology Solutions, as well as skill development related to enhancing field medical colleague performance.
  • Develops and maintains the Field Medical Onboarding Training plan ensuring, relevance, and alignment with Medical Affairs strategy. Collaborates with Team Leads to create customized training plans for new hires.
  • Oversee the onboarding of the former Array organization, including all aspects related to Compliance/Governance, Business Technology, CRM/OneMed, and all other elements related to organizational integrations.
  • Oversees all US Field Medical processes and ensures consistency and enhancements where possible.
  • Leads and facilitates Sr Director FMDs in the execution of key processes and initiatives for Field Medical.
  • Oversees US Field Medical budget for US specific technology and innovation initiatives.


Strategy and Business Planning:
  • As member of the US Oncology Field Medical Leadership Team (FMLT), contributes to the development and execution of Group's medical plans that is aligned with the respective US Medical Affairs plans for in-line and late stage product strategies and objectives
  • May represent Field Medical on teams across Pfizer US or North America or across business units for Field Medical Governance as requested.
  • Serve on Field Medical and/or cross-functional, cross divisional and cross business unit committees.


Operational Management:
  • Stays current on FDA and other US regulations and guidance that impact interactions with and delivery of medical information to external healthcare professionals.
  • Stays current on, anticipates, and adopts new digital technology, on-demand, and other related offerings that improve the efficiency of FMD medical communications activities and/or enhance the overall medical customer experience.
  • Keeps updated on scientific and medical literature and developments within the designated therapeutic area.
  • Stays current on all relevant Pfizer SOPs and guidance documents.
  • Ensures team activities are conducted in compliance with both internal and external policies, guidelines and regulations. Ensure compliance of team members with required responsibilities, including completion of assigned SOPs by stated deadlines. Partners with administrative professional staff to ensure effective administrative professional staff support is provided to the FMD team
  • Ensure that communication and collaboration between HQ and field-medical and other medical and commercial functions are effective, appropriate and compliant, and that the medical professionalism of the Oncology FMD function in the creation and implementation of its objectives and activities is maintained.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Experience
  • Terminal Doctorate degree (PharmD, PhD, or Doctor of Nursing Practice) with 7 or more years of relevant experience required. Expertise or experience in Oncology is highly desirable.

Skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and self-awareness skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adopt and utilize new digital technology and other resources with medical customers and record medical interactions (e.g. iPAD, Acronis, WEBEX, on-demand video-conferencing, iMED)
  • Strong strategic, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with show flexibility and organizational awareness and align with business priorities and strategies
  • Must be decisive, exercise good judgment in decisions, organized and with the ability to prioritize a large workload.
  • Ability to manage resources, programs and multiple projects.
  • Ability to travel nationally within the US as needed for the business
  • Travel up to 20% of time likely.
