Summary:

The Senior Project Manager, Project Management will provide professional project management for one or more of MyoKardia's discovery or development programs, or strategic projects related to drug development. This position will report to the Executive Director, Project Management and will actively partner with the Project Team Leader/s and all functional-area leaders to ensure efficient project planning, budgeting, prioritization and execution of strategic project goals. This position will also support the integration of broader Project Management systems to ensure alignment of plans, budgets and processes across programs at MyoKardia.

Essential/Primary Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Partners with the Project Team Leader (PTL) or other team leadership to create a high-functioning project team which will support strategic objectives of the program/company; identifies opportunities to improve team dynamics, teamwork and team member accountability
  • Develops and manages the execution of high quality, cross-functional project plans including detailed timelines and budgets; ensures timely communication to multiple stakeholders
  • Supports inter-departmental and subteam communication; ensures effective handoffs to execute on important project milestones; facilitates resolution of issues between functional areas
  • Drives efficient project team meeting(s) both internally and externally with partners; includes setting agendas, documenting and distributing meeting minutes which include key decisions and actions; ensures actions are completed
  • Anticipates project constraints and risks; helps to mitigate problems that may impact project progress (scope, timeline and budget)
  • Supports the team leader to ensure consistent communication of project performance between the teams and Senior Management; partners with project team members for coordination and development of project presentations to Senior Management and external parties; prepares and/or presents periodic updates at appropriate meetings
  • Works closely with the Regulatory Department to coordinate team input for regulatory interactions
  • May work with and support Joint Governance committees with partners
  • Contributes to the development of a PMO; seeks opportunities to harmonize processes and best practices across programs

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:
  • Typically requires 5-7 years of drug development project management experience in the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry; ability to manage a matrixed project team and coordinate all cross-functional aspects of drug development (e.g., preclinical, CMC, regulatory, clinical, quality, commercial, etc.) to achieve development milestones
  • Established ability to create a comprehensive project plan and prioritize the execution of complex tasks within a team environment
  • Ability to influence teams to consistently meet or exceed project deadlines
  • Experience in leading and managing team meetings; proven ability to create opportunities for meeting efficiency
  • Demonstrated team management and team building skills; enthusiastic about creating a successful environment for teamwork, collaboration and cooperation
  • Effective communicator who can develop strong relationships to facilitate project operations outside the context of formal meetings; able to effectively communicate with supervisor, co-workers and external partners on a daily basis, in-person, by phone and email
  • Proactive problem solver with detailed organizational skills
  • Has expert skills with the Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook; ability to create effective presentations for internal and external use
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is desirable but not required
  • Up to 5% travel may be required
