Sr. Associate, PD Downstream

Position Summary

The position will report to the Sr. Scientist of the Process Development and Production (PDP) department in San Diego. This role is responsible for the development and troubleshooting of scalable downstream processes for vaccine/proteins and will work with downstream team members in collaboration on shared department initiatives.

Essential Functions

• Designs and executes experimental plans, maintains accurate notes, prepares data analysis and results summaries with limited supervision
• Prepares SOP, batch records, development reports, tech transfer documents and participates in scientific presentations
• Prepares and presents project updates to ensure timely delivery of projects
• Performs routine lab assignments, prepares buffers, organizes raw materials, designs and prepares assembly
• Participates in downstream process activities: tangential flow filtration, chromatography, and sterile filtration
• Performs downstream process of GMP Clinical production as needed

Minimum Education, Experience and Skills

• B.S. degree in biology or related area with a minimum of three years of experience working in process development or protein science
• Advanced degree is preferred

• Chromatography Purification experience is required

• Diafiltration/Ultrafiltration experience is required

• Scale down/scale up knowledge is required
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Good aseptic techniques
• Ability to effectively collaborate with team members
• Strong trouble shooting and data analysis skills are preferred
• Design of Experiment (DoE) is a plus
• Filtration experience is a plus
• Protein chemistry knowledge is a plus
• Upstream process knowledge is a plus
• GMP experiences is a plus
