Job Summary

Amgen's 10 - 13 week internship program offers meaningful project experiences that impact patient's lives. This internship provides the opportunity for executive and social networking events and to participate in community volunteer projects while providing a competitive compensation.

The Career Discovery Internship Program is uniquely aligned to the newly-developed full time Career Discovery Program at Amgen. The Career Discovery Program (CDP) is a 2-year cross-functional rotation program committed to providing an enriching environment to encourage innovation and career growth for our future talent pipeline. For the internship program, we are seeking college students who are ready to make a positive impact and use their talents to accomplish more than they thought possible.

Each internship position will provide strategic, operational and project management support for a business organization in an area such as Research & Development, Compliance, Global Commercial Operations/Marketing, Finance, Operations, and more! This unrivaled opportunity provides learning on the inner workings and cross-functional aspects of running a multi-billion dollar business. The program, sponsored by senior leaders at Amgen, provides robust work experiences across many functions and your participation and successful completion of the CDP summer internship experience will present the opportunity to be evaluated for a full-time offer to join the CDP rotational program in 2022 post-graduation. Full-time opportunities are dependent on available positions and an evaluation of internship performance.

Limited relocation housing and/or miscellaneous allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Example projects from previous CDP internships:

Commercial Marketing and Commercial Operations - Internships include marketing support with Amgen's partnerships to the roll-out plan and promotional materials; Reimbursement and Value Access support to build a holistic access and reimbursement training tool to help new and existing sales reps understand and navigate the changing payer landscape; business analytics to build a business-driven foundation for Amgen's launch into the specific markets.

Compliance - Optimizing comprehensive compliance control system; Developing a coordinated and broad approach to initiating and archiving controlled compliance documents on a global scale

Finance- Improving share repurchase grids, treasury investment consulting

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an undergraduate internship or an undergraduate co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Currently enrolled in a full time Bachelor's Degree program from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion of one year of study from an accredited college or university prior to the internship commencing

Enrolled in a full time Bachelor's degree program following the potential internship or co-op assignment with an accredited college or university

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Possess U.S. citizenship, permanent legal residence, or unrestricted work authorization in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Business, Life Science, Biochemistry, Biology, Marketing, or Finance

Junior standing with graduation in Summer 2022

Ability to thrive in a high-performance culture

Right mix of energy and accomplishments

Excellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skills

Excellent time management, decision-making and organizational skills

Ability to apply research findings, capture information, interpret and analyze results, develop and implement a logical and strategic plan of action

Ability to make supportable recommendations to help achieve department goals

Strong project management skills, proficiency in logistic planning from beginning to end, priority setting, timely delivery of results, and multi-tasking

Ability to think critically, actively anticipate problems and propose solutions and to work effectively/collaboratively across teams, levels of management, across partnerships, use contact network to motivate diverse teams, and enable cross-functional collaborations

Ability to work independently and with ambiguity

Strong computer skills; strong technical use of Microsoft Suite
