The Manager, Global Strategic Sourcing is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the overall Sourcing Strategy for Novartis Gene Therapies. The Manager is chartered with collecting business requirements, negotiating contracts with preferred suppliers, and identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Leads sourcing activity for assigned categories to deliver key performance indicators, including: risk management, supplier rationalization, savings, spend under agreement, joint innovation, supplier performance, etc.
  • Supports one or more Associate Directors in the development of 3-5 year global strategies focused on identifying and contracting with suppliers that meet key business needs and the aforementioned category management goals.
  • Primary responsibility for identification, qualification and performance management of assigned strategic supplier base. This includes development and utilization of the Novartis Gene Therapies eSourcing platform, Scout.
  • Run sourcing initiatives from requirements gathering through contracting for assigned categories/projects. This also includes development of analysis and use of data and market intelligence to drive supporting recommendations.
  • Demonstrates strong project management acumen specific to procurement initiatives.
  • Aligns team and category management processes to meet business needs and sourcing goals.
  • Acts as the interface with Novartis Gene Therapies partners ensuring alignment of strategies, and commitments.
  • Interfaces with internal stakeholders to obtain sponsorship and resources to implement sourcing strategies that support their key objectives.
  • Leads development and execution of reportable metrics for suppliers and for immediate team through the measurement and tracking of key performance indicators.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or technical field; Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in strategy or sourcing roles.
  • Business acumen - knows how to assess market/business requirements dynamics and negotiate agreements that yield meaningful business value.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data in a procurement setting.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant year over year results.
  • Demonstrated consultative/collaborative style in performing sourcing activities.
  • Influences without authority to motivate and manage a cross-functional team in multiple geographies.
  • Experience with eSourcing tools such as Scout, Ariba preferred.
  • Hands-on manufacturing and/or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Experience in life sciences, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries preferred.
