The Immuno-Oncology and Cellular Therapy Thematic Research Center is one of the fundamental research and early development engines delivering therapeutics to patients. Our mission is to drive leadership in the use of immune effector cell-based therapies in hematological and solid cancers. More specifically, we are focused on developing engineered cell-based therapies, as well as biotherapeutics, both aimed at harnessing the power of immune cells to mediate anti-tumor activity. Job Description

Translational Research is part of the Research and Early Development organization at Bristol-Myers Squibb and leads early stage clinical, pharmacological and translational research and development activities for the immuno-oncology and cellular therapy pipeline and supports the late stage portfolio for regulatory, translational development and life cycle management of cellular therapies. The successful program management candidate will be accountable, along with the translational directors, to support the IO CT translational scientific team to successfully execute the translational development plans and communicate the project plans and translational learnings across the research and development organization to drive the research and clinical development pipelines.

Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Responsibilities may vary based on project and stages of development (research, early, late)
  • Manage projects of varying complexity with supervision from the translational research directors
  • Support the Translational Research Team to execute the portfolio strategy and achieve team goals
  • Monitor and track research collaborations
  • Assist the directors in assuring a high-performance team spirit and high functioning teams
  • Identify project risks with input from the line functions, and support resolving project issues
  • Responsible for the conduct and organization of Governance and Team meetings
  • Ensure that team recommendations related to project direction in need of endorsement by Decision Committees are planned for review by the Committees
  • Coordination of forums for structured translational data communication/presentation across research and early development, as well as research and disease strategy teams
  • Assists with developing and coordinating resource planning across functions to assure that adequate resources are applied to the projects
  • Maintains high level timelines and detailed timelines with input from the global project leads, ensuring that the functional timelines are aligned with global project and study team timelines in partnership with project and execution leads
  • Tracks the various parts of the timeline with the sub-teams, brings issues to the leadership attention, participates in resolution, updates timeline on an on-going basis to allow transparency to the organization
  • Tracks data deliverables, presentation and reporting to project teams, and tracks congress and journal publication planning by translational scientists
  • Serves as member of translational sub-teams to assure that functional deliverables are completed on time, within budget and according to quality standards
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and ad hoc reports as required
  • Position will include significant participation with translational leadership in development of project management tools, governance templates, processes/SOPs, and guidance documents
  • Assure that the BMS values are demonstrated in all aspects of the teamwork


Skills/Knowledge Required:
  • PhD, Master's, or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field of study, with a minimum 5 years of pharma experience/3 years Project Management experience or equivalent; PMP certification desirable.
  • Possession of a global understanding of the drug development process helpful
  • Excellent project management skills and results driven
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed organization
  • Effectively utilizes information technology systems and project management tools including systems (MS project, Microsoft Visio, Excel, SmartSheet, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required, with technical writing capabilities required
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicts and negotiations while providing impact and influence
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and planning skills
