Fate Therapeutics is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated Research Associate
with a background in nucleic acid purification and next generation sequencing (NGS) library processing to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the discovery and characterization of novel induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cellular therapeutics. The candidate will play a key role in Fate's Genomics group, executing NGS-based assays in support of Fate's efforts to generate and characterize best-in-class iPSC-derived cellular therapies. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative and communicative and have extensive hands-on experience in extracting and purifying DNA and RNA from cells and tissues for use in NGS. This position will require adherence to tight deadlines, strong independent and collaborative research abilities, a high level of organization, and the ability to communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams. This is a full-time, bench-level position reporting to a Scientist in the Genomics group and is located at the Company's corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.

Responsibilities
• Nucleic acid extraction (RNA and DNA) from cell culture and tissues
• Nucleic acid quantification and QC
• NGS library preparation, quantification, and QC for the Illumina platform
• DNA sequencing on the Illumina platform
• Coordinate receipt, tracking, and process documentation of genomics samples for company-wide R&D studies
• Optimize novel NGS assays and other genomics methods under direct supervision
• Write, review, revise, and follow SOPs within Fate Therapeutic's document
management system
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date lab records and notebooks

Qualifications
• Requires 1-3 years' experience in standard molecular biology techniques including
the isolation, quantification, and manipulation of both DNA and RNA
• NGS experience is preferred
• Industry experience is preferred
• Experience with Illumina NGS platforms is preferred
• Experience with mammalian cell culture including hematopoietic cells and cell lines, including those of human origin, is preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
• Will require working with blood and cell lines of human and animal origin
• Will require working with hazardous materials
