AbbVie Immunology, located in Worcester, MA offers a unique working environment for drug discovery, incorporating a team of analysis and purification experts directly with medicinal chemistry design-synthesis project teams. Our group leverages new and established analysis and purification tools to provide critical collaborative support to research teams, biologists, experts in organic synthesis and molecule design.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our Analysis and Separation team with focus on separations and MS analysis support for design-synthesis of both chiral and achiral small molecules. Candidates for this position are expected to be able to quickly adapt to existing instrumentation and software applications, engage project teams to provide key analysis and separations support as well as extend the capabilities and improve the efficiency of existing analysis and separation tools. Candidates with a background in analytical UPLC/MS, SFC/MS, preparative scale LC and SFC and application of these tools to enhance AbbVie's expertise and efficiency are strongly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated expertise with analytical and prep-scale SFC and HPLC methods development for separation of complex mixtures of both chiral and achiral molecules is required.
  • Experience with configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance and routine repair of SFC and UPLC/HPLC systems is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise with SFC/MS, LC/MS and API ionization methods is required
  • Previous experience with multiple vendors including Waters (Masslynx and Empower), Shimadzu Lab Solutions and Thermo Chromeleon software is desired.
  • Experience with GC and GC/MS is a plus.


Basic Qualifications:

Position will be hired based on level of experience.
  • PhD, MS or BS in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with typically 0+ (PhD), 8+ (MS) or 12+ (BS) years of relevant post-degree experience.
  • Candidate must be highly collaborative and thrive in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Flexible, team player, strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills.
  • Maintain concise, accurate and comprehensive scientific records.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, organized, detail-oriented, proven multi-tasking ability.
