Please note, this position is remote and the candidate may reside nationwide. There will be considerable travel to our US corporate office in Basking Ridge, NJ and travel throughout the field.
Job Summary:
The Senior Director is responsible for the strategic and tactical direction of a Field Medical Affairs Team. In this role, you will be responsible for our lung cancer portfolio. The SDFMA manages two or more Regional Field Medical Affairs Directors (RFMDs) who directly oversee the Medical Science Liaisons.
Responsibilities:
The SDFMA, in collaboration with the RDFMA, is accountable for:
- The SDFMA collaborates across USMA (MR&S, MI&E, HEOR, and FMA) for each FMA Team and/or asset(s) to provide input into the US Medical Affairs Plans
- The SDFMA strategically oversees the RDFMA which is accountable for ensuring the FMA teams execute all FMAPs and achieve all field activities / metrics.
- The SDFMA assists the Executive Director Field Medical Affairs with all field medical strategic planning and capabilities development; also supports USMA initiatives sponsored by the VP USMA
- Develops and implements bi-annual Field Medical Alignment Plans
- Actively interfaces with USMA HQs and TA leadership to ensure strategic alignment, proper resourcing and flawless execution of FMAPs
- Optimizes FMA management team alignment, integration, and tactical implementation
- Leadership Team and HQ Medical Affairs teams
- Lead FMA actionable insight process to ensure the voice of the external stakeholder is included in decision making
- Provide ongoing assessment of Regional Field Medical Affairs Director and MSL- competencies, support implementation of individualized employee development priorities, complete performance
- Optimize and ensure scientific support of Health Systems Accounts and Payors by fostering collaboration with the Health Outcome Liaisons
- Collaborate with other SDFMAs and Directors of Field Medical Affairs to ensure sharing of best practices
- Work cross functionally to assure MSLs deliver required clinical trial related objectives
- Work with field sales leadership, key commercial colleagues in associated business unit to foster consistent communication and meet the needs of external stakeholders through governance of the CARE-team
- Works collaboratively with cross-functional Alliance Partners (e.g., AstraZeneca) and with Global Medical Affairs to ensure alignment of Medical Affairs and Field Medical Affairs strategy and execution
Education/Experience:
- Doctorate (PharmD, PhD or MD) required.
- 12 years professional, industry experience/5+ years leading field medical team.
- Must have oncology or immunology experience
- Demonstrated learning agility and experience managing field teams in the US Market
- Ability to effectively engage Senior Management to implement field medical vision and TA strategies.
- Strong working knowledge of healthcare delivery in US - payors, integrated delivery systems, care coordination, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- A thorough understanding of the all regulatory and compliance regulations, policies and procedures.
- Role requires 50% travel to HQ in Basking Ridge, NJ and field.
