We are seeking a Senior Scientist responsible for the validation of drug targets and the characterization of lead molecules by employing mechanistic and disease-relevant in vitro model systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in vitro assay development and execution using high-throughput screening technology, and they will be engaged in target validation studies. Additionally, the incumbent will make strategic contributions to projects and may supervise one or more research associates.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Development and execution of robust biochemical and cellular assays to support drug discovery programs
  • Characterization of drug candidate mechanism of action with in vitro systems
  • Contribution to discovery project science and strategy
  • Generation, analysis, interpretation, and quality control of quantitative data
  • Effectively organize and communicate research progress and activities through oral and written presentations
  • Maintenance of accurate and current records of research


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with cellular immunology, including isolating and measuring functional responses of primary immune cells and phenotyping by flow cytometry
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques such as cloning, cell line generation, transcript analysis, and CRISPR
  • Experience with assays for measuring enzyme activity, ligand-binding, phospho-proteins, calcium mobilization, gene expression, and protein expression
  • Experience in the development, automation, and execution of biochemical and cellular assays to characterize drug candidate properties


Basic Qualifications:

Position will be hired based on level of experience

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology or related discipline with typically 10-12 (BS), 8-10 (MS), or 0-4 (PhD) years of relevant post-degree experience
  • Candidate must be highly collaborative and thrive in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment
  • Strong familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and curve-fitting programs
  • Strong organizational, communication, and inter-personal skills
