As part of the Amgen's Manufacturing Operations organization, our Amgen Woburn Manufacturing (AWM) site manufactures oncolytic virus based end-to-end drug substance and drug products for the global market. This role of Manager Distribution Center for AWM reports directly to the Senior Manager and Site Lead for Supply Chain. This position is responsible for managing regional receiving, shipping and warehouse operations including cGMP materials, general supplies, and other non-cGMP activities. The position will be accountable for driving operational safety, compliance and productivity in addition to serving as a key member of the Supply Chain organization.

  • Driving site and operational goals through individual contribution and direct supervision of staff
  • Implementing operational efficiencies and cost reduction opportunities
  • Acting as the project manager for distribution-related continuous improvement projects (Lean Transformation)
  • Promoting a safe work environment
  • Partnering cross functionally to ensure cGMP, EH&S, DOT/IATA and Import/Export process and procedure compliance
  • Owning and revising, as required, Standard Operating Procedures and applicable training documents to ensure department compliance
  • Providing direct leadership and mentoring to staff as it relates to cGMP receipt, storage and product distribution
  • Supporting the development and implementation of cold chain logistics solutions
  • Developing and leading all aspects of monthly metrics and present to management
  • Supporting business continuity risk management
  • Assisting in the development of yearly budgets based on current and future business drivers
  • Directly interfacing as required with representatives of the FDA, other governing agencies, and companies for audits and other inspections
  • Collaborating closely with a number of diverse groups (Human Resources, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Dispensing, Supply Chain Procurement, Facilities and Engineering, Global Deliver Network, other Amgen sites)
  • Ensuring staff training remains current
  • Occasional travel to support regional supply chain model

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 3 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience


Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience


High school diploma / GED and12 years of Supply Chain, Material / Logistic Management or Operations experience


Previous managerial experience directly managing people and/or experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree Business, Supply Chain, or Logistics
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and/or supply chain operations
  • 2+ years of GMP experience in a pharmaceutical and or commercialized biotechnology environment
  • 2+ years of experience developing, managing and leading staff
  • Experience with inventory management principles
  • Understanding inventory management systems such as SAP
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Experience leading and responding to compliance agencies/audits
  • Experience with quality systems: investigations, change control, and document management
  • Demonstrated project management abilities
  • Understanding of Six Sigma or similar Operational Excellence tools
  • Proficient in desktop software applications (e.g. Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Professional supply chain certification such as APICS

  • Knowledge of industry trends (e.g., regulatory and compliance, technology, human performance programs, sustainability, etc.)
