Job Summary:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations, the Director of Investor Relations will work closely with key internal stakeholders and our external agency to position GBT in the investment community. This individual is expected to take on a lead role in interfacing with investors and analysts, serving as a credible and timely source of information and primary point of contact. The position involves engaging key internal and external audiences, creating effective messages, storylines and IR programs which drive valuation and awareness for GBT and its medicines and pipeline. This position is based in South San Francisco, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working closely with senior leadership and cross functional partners, develop and execute strategic IR programs and messages that position the company as an innovative leader in sickle cell disease / benign hematology
  • Develop and maintain materials that reflect key corporate messages, including key messages, Q&As, press releases, quarterly earnings conference call scripts, corporate presentations, annual reports, and website posts
  • Develop and maintain rolling calendar of IR/PR events, including Analyst Day meetings; provide executive support for roadshows, investor conferences, earnings calls, industry panel events, investor meetings; handle meeting scheduling and other logistics
  • Develop and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts and institutional investors, as well as key business and biopharmaceutical/health care media and influencers
  • Manage investor target lists; identify and conduct research to optimize investor base through strategic conference, non-deal roadshow and 1x1 strategy
  • Identify and manage external agencies
  • Organize and compile analyst reports
  • Develop updates/presentations for senior leadership and board of directors on analyst and investor reactions around key milestones and quarterly announcements
  • Support maintenance of GBT's investor relations page of corporate website

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher; focus on finance, communications and/or life science a plus
  • A minimum of 8 years of biotech or life sciences investor relations experience (in-house or agency)
  • Experience engaging with and counseling senior executives
  • Experience developing, writing and executing clear plans, timelines and budgets
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to execute once strategies are set
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Small company experience with fast-paced culture
  • Strong project management skills; highly organized and detailed-oriented
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • 15% travel includes occasional off-hours and weekend work for investor meetings and medical conferences
