In this role, the Director will work with ME/MA leaders and other stakeholders to further facilitate and/or enhance the process of building measurable value into ME/MA activities from the outset, in order to maximize both their value and how effectively/meaningfully that value can be articulated to ME/MA stakeholders and beyond. The role will capitalize on the scientific output of, and interdependencies within, Medical Affairs to escalate MA's visibility and reputation, translating and bringing to life what each focus area does so that they can be fully understood and appreciated by a variety of important audiences.

A typical day may involve the following:
  • Contribute, where appropriate, to effective evaluation of ME/MA programs, activities and vendor interactions, and provide recommendations based on value-based considerations.
  • Work with key MA stakeholders to ensure that whenever possible, ME/MA activities are designed with compliant, objective, quantifiable measures of progress and success that help to reflect the value-proposition of ME/MA activity.
  • Identify key cross-functional interdependencies and recommend ways to optimize those working relationships and routines.
  • Bring in-depth, relevant business experience and knowledge of how to articulate value on behalf of an organization such as ME/MA, including (but not limited to) assessment of activities and results that warrant dissemination.
  • Actively contribute to the development/implementation of the MA annual strategic plan for initiatives in relevant areas, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and Alliance partners.
  • Foster strategic alignment around MA's value proposition and key messaging. Work proactively with the leadership team and key internal stakeholders to establish the "brand" of the Global Medical Affairs organization, including its core messaging and its accompanying look and feel.
  • Work with ME/MA functional areas to develop strategic and tactical plans for improving the awareness, understanding and perception of MA (as well as the utilization of its assets) by a variety of stakeholders and audiences, both internal/external.
  • Identify and engage appropriate resources for the execution of approved plans, based on their ability to present complex MA concepts intuitively to various audiences.
  • Direct and supervise the cross-functional personnel involved in designing/developing and distributing (using a range of communication modalities) continual campaigns to keep internal and relevant external stakeholders aware of ME/MA initiatives and key outcomes/impact.
  • Ensure overall compliance and quality of these ME/MA activities.
  • Present concepts and deliverables intended to persuade and educate.
  • Establish a baseline understanding of audience awareness/perception, as needed, in order to forecast and periodically measure the impact of campaign efforts.
  • Work with Senior Director, Medical Education to oversee and formally evaluate the professional performance of assigned personnel.
  • Collaborate as needed with MA colleagues, internal and external customers, alliance partners, other stakeholders and senior leadership. Maintain regular and appropriate contact with outside stakeholders to remain abreast of external developments.
  • Work cross-functionally with colleagues across legal, compliance, finance, accounts payable, etc.
  • When required, effectively lead multiple cross-functional working groups/committees, facilitating constructive discussion to enable decision-making, and building collaborative relationships with working group/committee members.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, processes, and systems.

    Planning and Development-
  • Stay current regarding external environment: industry and market trends, regulatory developments, state-of-the-art Medical Affairs methodologies. Apply this knowledge in the planning, development, management, and oversight of campaigns for relevant ME/MA focus areas.
  • Participate in relevant congresses and conferences to assess competitive ME/MA program quality and value articulation activities across the industry.
  • Partner with Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Finance, Commercial Operations, among others to regularly review and contribute to any updates to Regeneron's policies and procedures regarding ME/MA.

Experience Requirements:

  • Business management skill required, and entrepreneurial mindset a plus.
  • Ability to present complex ideas/information, deliverables and outcomes to every level of executive management, in a compelling and understandable way.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and direct the strategic/tactical agenda for business growth/improvement in a management role, with extensive experience supporting and/or overseeing the conceptualization, development, project planning and delivery of myriad, integrated campaigns that have successfully met or surpassed their stated goals for raising awareness and understanding, changing attitudes, driving behavior and increasing utilization of products/services.
  • Proven success facilitating cross-functional collaboration towards a common goal, with deep experience selecting, supervising and evaluating the teams and vendors involved in tactical execution. The possession of strong, aesthetic judgment and the ability to provide creative direction are paramount.
  • Adept at identifying/solving problems amidst ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated success implementing change management efforts.
  • 8-10 years' experience within the advertising industry, preferably in an agency setting. An audience-driven mindset is critical, with a deep understanding of 360° branding. Additional experience conceiving, launching and/or further-developing a business venture preferred.
  • Ability to gain therapeutic and relevant focus-area knowledge as needed, in order to properly communicate on behalf of varied programs and activities.
  • Understanding of medical and regulatory affairs, drug development, FDA and regulatory guidelines (e.g. PhRMA guidelines, OIG, AMA, Sunshine Act, etc).
  • Bachelor's Degree, Advanced Degree a plus.
  • Pharma experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Alliance partner(s) a plus
