The Discovery Biotherapeutics team at Bristol Myers Squibb seeks to understand the structure and function of complex molecules such as antibodies and endogenous proteins in order to optimize their utility as therapeutic agents. We collaborate with biology and translational scientists imbedded in the Thematic Research Centers in order to prosecute Targets and Biological pathways with disease modifying potential. By using a blend of internal and external technologies and capabilities, we work to discover and deliver first-in-class as well as best-in-class molecules that warrant clinical evaluation for patient benefit.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and creative antibody and assay screening Research Investigator to join the Antibody Platform Technologies group to join a team of Screening Scientists. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in hybridoma and recombinant antibody and assay screening to bring novel and innovative Biotherapteutics to patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with a team of scientists to promote an innovative and collaborative team environment responsible for prosecuting Hybridoma fusion and High Throughput Assay Screening campaigns
  • Work closely with the APT assay development and automation teams as well as the antibody development group to bring next generation biological screening assays to the established antibody screening pipeline
  • Responsible for generating and interpreting data from a high throughput antibody/protein expression and purification and assay screening pipeline
  • Expand the screening capabilities by co-management of the High Throughput Antibody expression and purification process including antibody binding and functional screening assays
  • Develop and implement training plans allowing scientists across the site to be proficient users of the automated screening assays
  • Assist in the management of cleanroom scientific staff, equipment, and collaborate with facilities to maintain Class 100 cleanroom environment


Requirements:
  • PhD and 0-2 years of industry experience in Bioengineering, Laboratory Automation, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, Cell Biology, or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge and experience with antibody discovery, antibody expression and purification and molecular and cellular biology, including hybridoma antibody development
  • Strong knowledge and experience with High Throughput screening, optimization, and development of a variety of assays (ELISA, FACS, HTRF, etc.)
  • Experience working in a team of scientists ranging from PhD to entry-level scientists as well as showing an aptitude for influencing across a matrixed organization
