BioSpace is partnering with an emerging biotech company focused on the development and commercialization of a novel diagnostic platform for neurodegenerative diseases who is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join their growing clinical laboratory team in San Diego, CA.

Job Duties:

Performs clinical laboratory testing from specimen processing to data analysis according to departmental SOPs. Evaluates test results for completeness, accuracy and quality. Follows SOPs to prepare assay materials and laboratory reagents. Completes intake and accessioning of specimens along with the implementation or validation of new clinical laboratory testing methods. Reviews and maintains QC records; documents nonconformance and corrective actions events. Recognizes problems and initiates troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems. Assists with training of other laboratory personnel as appropriate. Performs preventative maintenance and calibrations on laboratory equipment and instruments. Monitors reagent and supply inventory. Reviews and updates laboratory documents, as needed.

Job Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years in a high complexity CLIA laboratory required. CCS or CLS license required.

Willing to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual. Must be able to pass a color blindness test. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with advanced data analysis and interpretation skills. Experience with single and/or multi-channel pipetting is needed. Knowledge and experience with CAP, FDA and other regulatory agencies is highly desired. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed, capability of supporting cross-functional activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Experience in a regulated clinical laboratory with successful commercial product launches is preferred along with experience and knowledge of protein handing and analysis; experience and knowledge of protein misfolding disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, cyclic amplification, fluorometric techniques, and multi-well plate systems.
