Scientific Software Administrator/Analyst

The Enterprise IT (EIT) Directorate oversees the strategic vision and implementation plan for IT systems and solutions for the enterprise at Leidos Biomedical Research, the operational information and data systems support to Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research.


EIT is recruiting for an administrator/analyst that will configure and support ongoing operations of a LIMS (LabVantage). This LIMS Analyst will provide the necessary integration between the LIMS system used by the FNL Serology lab and the SeroNet Data Coordinating Center, and integration with the Biorepository as needed. This support will include data extraction from the LIMS, any data and/or metadata transformation needed to be compliant with the SeroNet Data Coordinating Center data formats and policies, loading of the data into the SeroNet Data Coordinating Center and quality assurance checking of the loaded data. As the deployment matures, the solution and analyst will provide the capability across the FNL community.
The administrator/analyst will configure and support ongoing operations of a LIMS (LabVantage) to include the following functions:

  • Maintain workflows: create, modify, troubleshoot, collaborate with QC on Documentation
  • Maintain instrument connectivity: add devices, maintain interfaces, troubleshoot
  • Maintain reports: create, modify, troubleshoot
  • Train & support lab staff regarding capabilities and use of LIMS
  • Technical liaison for LIMS, between lab staff, vendor support, IT infrastructure, IT security
  • Manage support questions between lab staff and LIMS vendor support
  • Maintain backlog of feature requests, prioritize, implement
  • Perform ETL and push subset of scientific data to other databases, e.g., SeroNet and/or Biorepositories
  • Assure information security processes and procedures, support ATO maintenance
  • Scripting to automate data acquisition, data formatting, equipment integration



  • BS in chemistry, biology or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience installing/configuring/troubleshooting software applications
  • 1-3 years scientific background
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong background in Microsoft applications
  • Quick learner & attention to detail




  • Experience in GMP or GLP and/or a regulated industry
  • SQL, scripting, data transformation
