Position Summary

The BMS Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is dedicated to research supporting development of novel cellular therapies based on two distinct and complementary platforms - Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) and Engineered T Cell Receptor (eTCR) technologies. Our goal is to revolutionize medicine by re-engaging the body's immune system to treat cancer.

The Engineered T cell Biology Team is seeking an experienced and driven Scientist/Engineer to build and extend high-throughput efforts in our group as well as lead the adoption of larger-scale automated assays and workflows across the broader IO-CT Research and Early Development organization. The intent is for this Scientist/Engineer to be the nexus of all automation-related strategic planning and implementation within the research organization. This position exists as part of a highly collaborative, innovative and rapidly evolving environment and interfaces with multiple teams and functions across the company. Detailed Position Responsibilities
  • Manage, and maintain multiple HT automation platforms (eg; Hamilton, Dynamic Devices, BioMek, Tecan, iQue, etc)
  • Work within the team to optimize nucleic acid isolation/handling and NGS library preparation
  • Interact with multiple groups across the department to design and implement automated cellular assays and workflows
  • Guide the department's strategic plan for use and acquisition of automation capabilities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships regarding overall automation and HTS capabilities across BMS thematic research sites


Qualifications

• B.S. with at least 8+ years or M.S. with at least 5+ years relevant experience in Biomedical Engineering, Cellular Engineering, Biochemical, Chemical or related discipline

• Broad working knowledge of automation platforms and technologies

• Demonstrated experience building and/or leading automation/HTS implementation in industry setting

• Programming capabilities consistent with intended application (eg; C, C++, C#, python, etc)

• Experience building multiple platform integrated methods using scheduling software (eg; Genera)

• Excellent communication, writing, organizational, teamwork, and presentation skills

• Eagerness to interact with others in a highly-matrixed team environment

• Prior experience working in cell culture applications is strongly preferred (eg; familiarity with routine material types, plates/plastics/handling speeds, etc)

• Prior experience with cell therapy is strongly preferred
