Summary:The Head of Research & Early Development (R&ED) Project Management will build project management excellence across R&D to drive pipeline execution & portfolio value in partnership with Head of Full Development Project Management. This role is accountable for managing the scope, cost, timelines, and quality of integrated early development plans, and an integrated program plan of assets pre- lead optimization. This role influences asset and portfolio level decisions through identification of interdependencies and downstream implications of drug development decisions.Responsibilities:• Assess and integrate several different research and early development Project Management teams and practices across both BMS and Celgene to build a centralized Late Development project management capability that delivers best-in-class support to drives differential performance of the portfolio• Partners with Head of Late Development Project Management to ensure smooth hand-offs from early and late development, consistent practices, and end-to-end portfolio view• Oversee Early Development Project management across all Thematic Research Centers (TRCs)/Therapeutic Areas • Oversee Research Project Management to support pipeline progression and governance for Thematic Research Centers (TRCs) and Translational Medicine• Oversee Early Development Project Planners to manage cross portfolio timeline & resource tracking • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders both within and outside the company (functional and project leaders, peers and employees at all levels, vendors, pharma industry community, external opinion leaders)• Influence decision making in context of building value for portfolio versus progression of individual assets• Educate Early Development Teams on governance expectations and supports PD&C governance checkpoint (GT) preparations• Identify and test opportunities to improve team performance and systematically incorporate value-added practices• Identify and resolve systematic issues which confront asset development teamsRequirements:• Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Business or relevant discipline• Broad range of management skills gained through at least 10 years of managing diverse groups• Drug Development expertise including PD&C and broad industry knowledge in various functions• Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a cross-functional environment• Strong experience in project management best practices• Strong talent developer• Well-versed in industry trends, emerging business processes and technologies
