PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Cell Therapy Product Sciences department is seeking a Scientist/ Sr. Scientist to support the development of gene engineered T cell products. The Product Sciences Team is responsible for developing and executing mechanism of action and characterization studies to support the development of gene-engineered T cell therapies.The primary focus of the Scientist/Senior Scientist - Product Sciences role will be to build CAR/TCR T cell product and process understanding in support of early and late stage CAR T. Successful candidates will have a strong foundation in human T cell biology and other immune cell types. Experience with implementation and optimization of a broad range of in vitro cell-based and molecular assays is critical. This role is highly collaborative and requires a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and independently design and execute studies to meet project goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and deploy in-depth characterization of gene engineered T cells using flow cytometry, genome-wide expression analysis, metabolic profiling, and additional cutting-edge analytical techniques.
  • Participate and lead cross-functional teams to support the development of gene engineered T cell therapeutic platforms.
  • Support product-related impurities understanding including experimental design and execution, writing technical reports, and presenting data
  • Identification and prioritization of novel analytical approaches for interrogating gene engineered T cell function.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external collaborators and service providers.
  • Serve as T cell biology subject matter expert in multidisciplinary team setting, that includes non-clinical, clinical, regulatory, and CMC functions.
  • Perform and manage instrument and method troubleshooting
  • Author, review, and approve technical documents, including methods, protocols, reports, and SOPs
  • Learn and apply ICH/FDA/EMEA guidance and current thinking.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

Scientist: BS and 10+ years/MS and 8+ years/ PhD and 0-2+ years in Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or relevant discipline

Senior Scientist: PhD and 5+ years in Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, or relevant discipline

Experience

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Proven ability collaborate in a fast paced environment, meet deadlines, & prioritize work on multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Expertise in human T cell biology and in vitro modulation of T cell differentiation and function with small molecules and/or biologics.
  • Demonstrated expertise with multi-parameter flow cytometry and gene expression platforms
  • Demonstrated independence in experimental design, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with standard and next generation analytical platforms for the characterization of T cell phenotype, differentiation, and function.
  • Experience with genome-wide expression platform implementation and analysis, microarray, NanoString, RNA-seq, or other.
  • Understanding of cell signaling pathways involved in memory T cell differentiation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles providing scientific mentorship.
  • Experience authoring regulatory documents, including IND and BLA filings.
  • Track record of successful internal and external scientific collaborations.


WORKING CONDITIONS (US Only):
  • Office and laboratory environments with a mix of natural and LED lighting with low level of background noise. Required computer and conferencing hardware are provided. 40% seated at a desk with ergonomic and sit/stand desks and 60% time in laboratory or meetings.
  • Local, national, and international travel up to 5%
