The Director, US Consumer Markets, is key leader within the organization responsible for collaborating with partners while managing the strategic, tactical and financial elements of the brand and related consumer marketing programs. In addition, this role leads the implementation of innovative, consumer marketing and communication strategies for ZOLGENSMA® and AVXS-101.

Responsibilities
  • Lead/supervises the members of the ZOLGENSMA® (onasemnogene abeparvovec-xioi) and AVXS-101 US marketing team.
  • Develops and lead the ZOLGENSMA® and AVXS-101 US Patient/Caregiver marketing plans
  • Leads both branded and unbranded promotional consumer strategy, creative, media (in coordination with digital lead) and content to effectively drive customer engagement across multiple patient segments that are core to the brand's success.
  • Closely partners with all marketing disciplines (HCP, Patient Access, Patient Services, etc) and other cross-functional teams to deliver strategically sound, ROI generating and best-in-class consumer promotion.
  • Manages team members and capitalize on individual strengths to enhance overall team performance while creating an environment of success.
  • Oversees the development of content for digital websites directed to patients and families affected by rare diseases within the Novartis Gene Therapies scope.
  • Leads caregiver/patient engagement strategy and effective/compliant implementation of US marketing initiatives.
  • Partners cross-functionally and with global marketing to ensure execution of the brand plan.
  • Manages US consumer marketing budget.
  • Establishes annual objectives and developmental plans.
  • Develops and manages video assets including patient videos, education on gene therapy, AVXS-101 and related topics on an as needed basis
  • Recommends and implements initiatives via social media that comply with external laws and regulations and internal standard operating procedures
  • Maintains compliance with Novartis Gene Therapies' internal processes regarding legal, regulatory and financial policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy and other business partners
  • Other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, business or related area with 10 years of relevant pharmaceutical marketing experience or MBA or graduate level degree with 8 years of relevant pharmaceutical marketing experience.
  • Experience with Pharmaceutical consumer and/or digital marketing.
  • Rare disease experience is preferred.
  • Experience in multichannel and digital marketing.
  • Must be a strong strategic thinker, able to assess a range of variables including market trends and opportunities, competition, research progress, etc., in order to create near and longer term marketing strategies.
  • Ability to focus the organization on execution and delivery, with a drive and passion for winning.
  • Able to integrate business knowledge, financial knowledge and analyses of available information to make sound business decisions.
  • Must be able to travel (25%) as dictated by business need.
  • Professional with proven leadership skills.
