The Oncology team is seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to aid in the development of novel therapeutics in the field of immune-oncology. This scientist will apply histologic techniques and image analysis to better understand the tumor microenvironment and advise our clinical programs. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the identification of potential biomarkers and support companion diagnostic assays for novel therapeutic targets and agents.

As the Staff Scientist in Oncology, a typical day might include the following:

- Acting as a pathologist to read, score, and characterize H&E slides from patient samples
- Perform immune infiltrate scoring from H&E and IHC manual scoring
- Performing image analysis, machine learning, data management and data QC to advise clinical PD1 and bispecific antibody programs
- Applying expertise in Immunology, cancer Biology the tumor microenvironment to support pre-clinical and clinical projects
- Supporting histology assay development and validation in immunohistochemistry and other immune-oncology programs
- Collaborating with pathology, precision medicine, and research teams to identify biomarker
- Collaborating with the Imaging Center, Sample Management and Precision Medicine teams to develop image analysis across tissue staining platforms
- Identifying novel cancer targets using scientific literature, patents, bioinformatics databases, knowledge-based tools and input from consultants and clinicians

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have an MD/PhD or DMV in pathology, immunology, oncology, or a related field. A postdoc and/or a minimum of 6 years of proven ability in industry setting related to translational research is required. We need someone who has expertise in digital pathology, image analysis and machine learning platforms. Such platforms inlcude Visiopharm, Indica Halo, Definiens, Tissue Studio, Aperio Image scope, ImageJ, and Fiji. Have a strong understanding of tissue-based assays such as immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, multiplex imaging modalities, pathology lab workflow and IHC automation. Additionally experience with confocal microscopy, live cell-imaging, primary cell culture, flow cytometry, protein detection assays, protein-protein interactions assays is a plus. We are seeking a candidate with solid understanding of immunology, T cell biology, tumor microenvironment, and immunotherapy for cancer is vital. Ability to utilize bioinformatics tools effectively.
