MyoKardia is a clinical-stage biopharma ceutical company pioneering a precision medicine approach to discover, develop and commercialize targeted therapies for the treatment of serious and rare cardiovascular diseases. MyoKardia's initial focus is on the treatment of heritable cardiomyopathies, a group of rare, genetically driven forms of heart failure that result from biomechanical defects in cardiac muscle contraction. Mavacamten is MyoKardia's first product that is currently in late-stage development. MyoKardia's mission is to change the world for patients with serious cardiovascular disease through bold and innovative science.

As the Senior Director, Field Medical Affairs, you will be responsible for setting the strateg y and direction for the Field Medical team in preparing the medical community for the launch of MyoKa r dia's first product , Mavacamten . You will work as part of the Medical Affairs lead ership team and partner with other functions w ithin Medical Affairs including Medical Communicati on, Medical Information, Advocacy, and RWE / HEOR , as well as cross functionally across Clinical and Commercial . You will report into the Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs.


Th is position will be res ponsible to :
  • D efin e departmental objectives, set goals and evaluat e progress of the Field Medical team in preparing the medical community to better identify and manage HCM
  • Provide leadership and vision, set short- and long-term strategic direction for the Field Medical team in alignment with organizational and launch goals
  • Assure that the Field Medical Team has the appropriate resources and technology to achieve the highest level of per formance and efficie nc y through operational leadership
  • Support the rapid growth and o nboarding of the Field Medical team , assur ing that no n-corporate office-based team benefits from a great working MyoKard ia culture
  • Serve as a key connector between the organization and the Field Medical Team, assur ing well-communicated alig nment with corporate teams and continuously demonstrating the value of Field Medical to the organization
  • C onduct high level scientific and strategic interactions with external scientif ic leaders as well as participa te internally with cross-functional teams
  • Provide coaching and mento ring to assure high team performa nce and consistency and to address any performance de ficits in a n early, proactive, and positive manner
  • Facilitate appropriate scientific exchange of information with Field Medical Team , including integration of scientific knowledge with actionable insights to inform organization al strategies.
  • E stablish best practi ces in i dentify ing , establish ing and manag ing collaborative professional relationships with key opinion leade rs and investigators to identify and address scientific needs and to ensure access to medical and scientific information on cardiomyopathies and other rare cardiovascular diseases.
  • Facilitate the c ommun icat ion of external stakeholder opinions, insights and feedback on new data, clinical trends and the evolving cardiovascular disease landscape to Medical Affairs teams to enhance scientific understanding and inform internal strategies.
  • Represent organization at scientific meetings and congresses and contribute to debriefs, insight discussions and post-congress reports.
  • Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with company strategy.
  • Plan and execute regional team meetings, communicate R&D, Medical and Cli nical information, and othe r relevant information to the Field Medical team.
  • Be r esponsible for ensuring the successful integration of new members into their assigned roles and responsibilities as well as continued mentorship of new and existing Field Medi cal members.
  • Liaise with appropriate cross-functional stakeholders to understand marketplace dynamics and implications for scientific and medical strategy field needs.
  • Responsible for having insight into the national/regional/local clinical and health care reform trends impacting organization.
  • Participate in and support the development of product and portfolio research strategy, utilizing the Regional Director insights and therapeutic expertise.
  • Fully comply with all company policies and applicable laws, re gulations and ethical standards.



  • Advanced degree in clinical or life sciences (PharmD, M.D., Ph.D. in a medically related field) from accredited college or university, with significant prior experience in the bi opharmaceutical industry or healthcare environment


  • A minimum of 1 2 years biopharmaceutical industry experience
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Field Medical Affairs role with successful track record demonstrable effective leadership ski lls (by example and through accomplishments), and ability to lead a field team and step forward to handle challenges within scope of authority
  • A minimum of 5 years in management/ supervisory role / operational
  • Previous launch experience in a leading role required
  • D eep knowledge of cardiovascular disease landscape strongly preferred.

  • Ability to lead a high performing therapeutic team of scientific and diseas e state experts and focus on scientific and clinical education and peer-to-peer dialogue
  • Thorough understanding of ethical guidelines, laws and regulations relevant to the biopharmaceutical industry and its customers to ensure compliance with all external and internal guid elines and standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and comprehensively learn about new subject areas and environments and effectively communicate that information.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and work effectively in a constantly c hanging environment and to motivate a team to do the same
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with k ey opinion l eaders and national stakeholders


  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and possess a valid driver's license
