Job Details

The Cancer Research Technology Program (CRTP) develops and implements emerging technology, cancer biology expertise and research capabilities to accomplish NCI research objectives. The CRTP is an outward-facing, multi-disciplinary hub purposed to enable the external cancer research community and provides dedicated support to NCI's intramural Center for Cancer Research (CCR). The dedicated units provide expertise in electron microscopy, protein characterization, mass spectrometry, protein expression, optical microscopy and genomics. These research efforts are an integral part of CCR at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR), where CRTP scientists work collaboratively with intramural NCI investigators to provide research technologies and expertise

KEY ROLES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join the Single Cell Analysis Facility (SCAF) of the Center for Cancer Research (CCR) at NCI in Bethesda, Maryland. The SCAF provides support for state-of-the-art single cell sequencing technologies to basic and translational cancer research.

This person will work closely with other members of SCAF to process single cell genomics data and manage large datasets for multiple projects, and will be integrally involved in the evaluation and establishment of emerging single cell methods and analysis tools.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • A background in molecular and cell biology with two (2) years related experience
  • Experience running command line software
  • Experience in molecular biology, NextGen sequencing
  • Experience with rigorous record keeping
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One year of experience in data management or data analysis
  • Experience in handling NextGen Sequencing data
  • Familiarity with Single Cell sequencing, methods, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Linux
  • Basic programming skills
  • An analytical mindset with superb communication and problem-solving skills
