The Director of Medical Affairs Operations and Training will be responsible for supporting Medical Affairs with the assessment, development, implementation, and training of systems and processes that compliantly support efficacy and growth in the Global Medical Affairs organization. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering these projects within timelines and budget. She/ he will help support the growth of Global Medical Affairs as well as develop the infrastructure needed within GMA to support execution efficiently with systems, processes and headcount as well as plan for engaging customers, patients, and other key stakeholders that directly impact Emergent's ability to help physicians and patients. The Director will also provide assessment and execution oversight for GMA training, including scientific training, soft skills training and leadership development training. The candidate will be part of the GMALT (Global Medical affairs Leadership team) and this position reports to the Global Vice President, Medical Affairs.

  • Planning and execution of strategy, implementation and operation of GMA systems, working in partnership with all related GMA stakeholders and relevant support functions (e.g., IT, Finance).
  • Brings technical and project expertise to execute the GMA Infrastructure and digital plan and ensures plan agreement and implementation while delivering timely and effective digital solutions that create value across countries, regions and globally.
  • Develops and maintains a system roadmap based on stakeholder needs, technology capabilities, emerging trends, industry practices and data privacy/legal requirements while keeping stakeholders informed of important changes in each of their respective areas
  • Identifies opportunities to improve digital/ multi-channel planning and execution processes and approaches overall and work across therapy areas and functions to standardize improvements with innovation, speed, agility, and enterprise thinking.
  • Drives and develops the development of GMA system policies and procedures.
  • Facilitates Medical Affairs SOP Management and training on the SOPs
  • Tracks SOPs for updates and expiration.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure overall process meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides operational support for external request systems and databases, including administrative responsibilities and training of Medical Affairs users and external vendor partners.
  • Provides logistical and planning support for Global Medical Affairs Team Meetings
  • Oversees the development and implementation of Medical Affairs training including scientific education, soft skills training and leadership development training
  • Supports the creation, updating, and implementation of educational materials and scientific materials in conjunction with Director of Medical Communications for medical affairs training across functions including development and assessment of MSL skills, soft skills training and collection of field/KOL insights
  • Oversees and updates the Global Medical Affairs budget

• MD, Ph.D., or PharmD, preferred.
• 3 years of working experience within the pharmaceutical industry
• 3 years of professional experience in Medical Affairs and prior field-based Medical Affairs experience is preferred.
• Prior experience in digital systems, veeva CRM, veeva vault and/or veeva med comms is preferred
• Experience working with large budgets is an asset
• Prior experience in training/teaching is preferred
• An established track record of facilitating effective high-quality medical communications.
• Strong scientific acumen with the ability to translate and effectively communicate complex scientific data for varying audiences.
• Strong project management skills with a proven track record to deliver multiple projects in time and excellent quality.
