The Late-Stage translational research team in the Immuno-Oncology Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center has an opening for a highly motivated and creative Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate to conduct laboratory-based experiments to further the understanding of clinical-stage assets for the treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will work closely with the supervisor to contribute to mechanism of action and drug combination studies that would enable deeper durable responses for patients. The candidate must be familiar with mammalian cell culture and setting up in vitro functional assays to measure product functional attributes such as proliferation, cytokine production, phenotypic analysis and cytotoxic activity. Prior experience with clinical samples, human T cells and/or evaluation of CAR-T is preferred. Flow cytometry experience is highly preferable. In addition, this position will work with senior researchers to execute studies, analyze data and communicate timely results. This position is ideal for an innovative, self-driven scientist who is forthcoming; willing to learn; and is passionate about cell therapy in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Primary responsibilities

  • Interrogation of primary human material; cell handling, setup and maintenance of tissue culture studies
  • CAR T cell phenotypic analysis using flow cytometry. In vitro functional evaluation using T cell/Tumor co-culture assays
  • Cytotoxic activity using IncuCyte
  • Cytokine assessments using MSD and intracellular cytokine production by flow cytometry
  • Collaborating with scientists and other researchers to design, perform and optimize in vitro experiments
  • Maintaining notebooks with detailed documentation of protocols, study designs and results
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation
  • Organize findings for effective communication to supervisor, colleagues as well as at external conferences


Basic Qualifications
Research Associate: B.S. in biological science, immunology or related discipline with 2+ years of relevant work experience or M.S. degree
  • Senior Research Associate: B.S. in biological science, immunology or related discipline with 4+ years of relevant work experience or M.S. with 2+ years of work experience
  • 2+ years of immunology laboratory experience with in-vitro cell based assays
  • Experience with primary cell culture
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present scientific data in a clear manner
  • Strong organization, time management and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Desire and ability to expand skill-sets at the bench and knowledge-base through independent reading and seeking out information from colleagues and collaborators


Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of clinical samples, human T-cells and functional assays to evaluate CAR T cells
  • Experience with high-parameter FACS (10-15+ colors)
  • Prior experience writing method development protocols
  • Able to recognize potential problems and recommend/develop appropriate solutions
