Job Details

The Immunology & Inflammation department is seeking a Senior R&D Specialist to focus on evaluating novel immune modulation mechanisms in the context of autoimmunity. We are searching for a candidate to join a team exposed to cutting-edge technologies in a scientifically fertile environment that tackles outstanding scientific questions searching for innovative solutions. We are looking for someone who is passionate about cellular and molecular immunology as well as individual growth and development.

As the Senior R&D Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

- Developing and optimizing disease mouse models of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and analyzing associated pathologies by flowcytometry (RNASeq, histology, ELISA, MSD)
- Establishing and executing cell-based assays to screen candidate antibodies for various research programs
- Performing ELISAs and/or MSDs to measure cytokine levels and determine antigen binding
- Analyzing data and interpreting novel findings and effectively communicating results during internal and external meetings
- Troubleshooting methodological and technical issues
- Collaborating proactively with team members to coordinate complex in vivo experiments, and with other departments for cross-functional efforts
- Ability to independently design, plan, execute experiments, maintain lab notebook, and communicate data in a timely manner is required
- Maintaining laboratory equipment and ordering supplies/reagents to ensure a safe, efficient work environment

To be considered for this opportunity you should either possess the following: MS degree within immunology, biology, biochemistry or related field combined with 6+ years of relevant lab research experience or a BS degree with 8+ years of related experience. Experience with proper handling and care of mice, general surgical techniques and collection of tissue samples and blood is required. Previous work with mouse models of autoimmune or inflammatory disease is highly desired; experience in mucosal and/or neuro-immunology is a plus. We need someone who demonstrates hand-on experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques including isolation and culture of cell lines and primary cells (immune cells of human and mouse origin). Experience with multi-cellular assays multi-color flow cytometry, ELISA (MSD etc), functional assays (e.g. proliferation, cytokine production, etc.). Experience with single cell isolation and preparation for RNASeq profiling/sequencing data is desired.
