Vice President of Enterprise Communications & Media Relations

JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Enterprise Communications & Media Relations leads business unit and executive communications, internal and employee communications, and serves as our primary contact with the media. S/he is responsible for developing a coordinated strategy and communications plan that bridges the needs of the businesses, employees, and the overall enterprise.

S/he will oversee the creation of business unit (BU) communications strategies that proactively position the company, its products, and its services externally on an array of opportunities, as well as respond to challenges in the external environment on key issues. S/he will lead internal communications, ensuring clear, two-way communications to strengthen our business and engage and inspire our employees. S/he will work closely with the Content & Storytelling team to help drive the creative, compelling content they produce through the channels for which the Enterprise Communications& Media Relations team is responsible.

This position also leads executive communications, including thought leadership strategy, planning and preparation for appearances on television, on radio, in print, and for public appearances. S/he will serve as a senior advisor to the SVP, Global Communications & Public Affairs on media strategy. The vice president will develop and maintain relationships with key writers, hosts and/or producers who cover our issues or industry.

And s/he will work closely with our head of investor relations to ensure our messaging meets the needs of this critical audience, as well as across the BU marketing teams on messaging, branding, and channels to help ensure strategic alignment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop and execute a communications plan for the company, its business units, and its employees, based on its mission, vision, and corporate strategy, unifying it across BUs, functions and geographies.
• Oversee brand public relations resources and personnel and ensure successful strategies are developed and implemented for key commercial products.
• Work closely with the Content & Storytelling team to ensure its compelling content is maximized with internal and external audiences
• Drive internal and external executive thought leadership across the C-suite
• Lead Emergent's interactions with the media, including proactive outreach and fielding incoming inquiries.
• Write, refine, and create press releases, talking points, statements, responses, and other materials for consumption of the news media.
• Serve as lead Emergent spokesperson.
• Lead, mentor, coach and engage team members.
• Advise on strategies for proactive interaction with the press, as well as responses to incoming inquiries.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

• Highly refined written and oral communications skills.
• At least 15 years of experience as a corporate communications lead, press secretary, media relations lead, and/or other senior communications role dealing directly with the news media.
• Senior corporate media relations experience a plus.
• Collaborative style at easy in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with senior executives or lawmakers.
• Bachelor's degree required
