US MEDICAL LEAD, EARLY ASSETS

Description and Responsibilities:

Strategy and Execution:
  • Leads and delivers the strategy for bringing new molecular entities to the US (includes BMS Early Assets, Early Transition Assets, and External Collaboration Assets).
  • Holistically assesses registrational and non-registrational data generation plans to identify risks and opportunities in advance of US Market transition.
  • Leads review of new US investigator-sponsored research (ISR) concepts for strategic fit and manages the ongoing ISR portfolio to ensure timely data generation.
  • Leads a comprehensive Early Assets communication plan, across internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with Competitive Intelligence to gather insights and evaluate the potential impact on BMS assets.
  • Partners with the Biomarker & Diagnostics team to ensure the US is prepared for required/recommended testing that impacts product use.


Leadership and Matrix Management:
  • Sets a vision for engaging a diverse medical matrix teamacross assets, disease-areas, and WW Medicalto increase the overall impact ofthe US organizationwith early development teams and strengthening ourstrategic planning across the portfolio.
  • Leads US Early Assets sub-team and ensures alignment with strategy and execution based on key performance metrics.
  • Develops strategic engagement plan for US phase 1 sites, leading the partnership between field medical, academic/community research leads, early development, and clinical operations.
  • Partners with WW Medical to ensure seamless transition of assets to the US market.


Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
  • Manages communications with key stakeholders across all BMS functional areas in the US to ensure alignment while minimizing risk.
  • Ensures adequate US representation at advisory boards throughout Development process.


Essential Leadership Capabilities:
  • Ensures appropriate decisions are made in a timely manner and agreed upon at the appropriate levels to drive US launch milestones.
  • Builds and manages relationships with external stakeholders (thought leaders, strategic alliance partners, patient advocacy leaders).
  • Leverages capabilities of various functions, including Early Asset Development, WW Medical, Global Publications, External Collaborations.


Qualifications:
  • MD, PhD, or PharmD with at least 10 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Prefer 5 years of experience specifically in oncology, immunology, or translational medicine
  • Extensive working knowledge in the drug development process
  • Experience in managing/leading high performance, cross-functional teams
  • Working knowledge of regulations of the pharmaceutical industry in the US
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully and effectively collaborate, cooperate and work across boundaries (e.g., R&D, disease management, marketing, external stakeholders)
  • Ability to navigate through a complex and dynamic healthcare environment
  • Abreast of scientific issues as they impact business development and strategic planning
  • Success in situations requiring rigorous, analytical problem solving and the ability to determine scientific opportunity and commercial targets
